Re: Trip #3 - Going to Negril
I hang up the phone and tell the driver that he is here. I take peek in the backseat. My two pieces of checked luggage and carry on are piled up in the backseat of the Jimney. There is a small space for one person to fit. I sure hope he didn’t bring a lot of stuff.
I get out of the jeep and pace back and forth until I see him moments later strolling down the street under the tall palm trees lining the roadway. He’s got a huge grin on his face and I’m sure I must be wearing the same. When he approaches me we hold a long embrace and almost instantaneously I get the feeling like I’ve always been there and never left. He grabs my hand and we walk over to the jeep. He peers inside and says “Wow, you sure brought a lot of stuff”. “Sorry”. I tell him. He only has one bag thank goodness. He climbs in the back I get in the passenger seat and we are off.
The road to Negril is much smoother then to Ochi as I remembered it. I watch the goats and cows lining the road. I take in the green foliage everywhere, notice the beautiful mountains in the distance and watch the people walking by. I see a whole group of children in their brown outfits waiting on the corner when we stopped. My hand is holding onto the headrest and Paul takes it from the backseat. “I missed you”. I hear him say from behind me. Oh my gosh, how the heck am I going to get up the will to leave after these two weeks. I chastise myself for thinking that way in only the first hour that I have landed in Jamaica.
We stop of at a little store on the way to get a drink. I get a Ting which I have never tried before. It is really good! Back into the Jimney and we are on our way again.

We reach Negril and get to the Fun Holiday. I check in with no problems, and we head upstairs to drop off our stuff. The room has a good size bathroom with nice tiles along the floor and in the bath. There is cable tv in the room and air-conditioning with a remote control. The air-conditioning was strong! We could keep it on for no longer then 30 minutes most times and couldn’t sleep with it at night because we’d freeze. There is a balcony with a door to it, the balcony had a small table with four chairs. I went on the balcony and looked out to the ocean.

We leave the room and head downstairs to eat at Fun Holidays beach bar/restaurant.

We ordered our food and waited. And waited and waited for about hour and a half. This becomes a daily thing so we know if we even start to get hungry, to do down and order. While we waited we caught up talked our faces off and watched the water and beach. Am I really here?

People were walking by and a lady stops to ask if I wanted my hair braided. Paul snickers at her and says “Do you see my baby’s hair there? Does it look like she needs braids”? The lady laughs, looks at me and says. “Well if you decide you want braids, come see me”. I tell her I will if I do. I turn to him as she walks away. “Maybe I wanted braids”. He turns to run after her but I yank him back. “Just testing you”. He gives me a push. Several people approach us and ask if we'd like to buy some carvings. We finish eating and head back upstairs to take a nap before we head out on the town. I never nap at home but I know if I’m going to keep up at night I’m going to have to here.
