Congratulations on your marriage! You all look so happy! I have been married for 4 years and this will be the second trip with my hubby to Jamaica in december! We have so much to laugh at together(And sometimes we fuss!), but all in all I love being in Ja with my husband!

Ya know the homes in Ironshores are beautiful, but NO house in Jamaica for me without a view of the ocean. Try this one on for size.

The view from the sea back to the house. That's me raising my hand as if to say this is mine. It has four bedrooms with baths looking out to the sea, and a care takers room.

Inside the kitchen living room and dining room are just one large entetainment area. No walls. I wish my house here was like that.

The "JUICE" and Sandals Royal!
For some reason I knew this last night with our family was going to be a DOOZY! My cousin whom I grew up very close, decided that he was going to take a dip with his boxers and t-shirt. He saw me and convinced me to jump in with clothes on. It was exhilirating (sp?)! He had alot to drink! And when he drinks he becomes emotional. You know how most people have certain "states" of mind...'the angry drunk..the sleepy drunk...the sad drunk..' Well with my cousin, he speaks his heart when he drinks. He continues to tell me how much he loves me and how I'm his favorite cousin and how we go back so far. I want to cry and all we do is hug and kiss cheeks with one another in the pool.

Most of my guests flew home the following Monday and Tuesday. So the majority of them were gettin their last 'swurve' on. My brother decides to jump in the jacuzzi with all of his clothes on. I'm sure he was hammered when he did that. I find out two of my girlfriends hooked up with men. One had an interlude with a bartender at the resort and the other with another tourist staying at Sunset. Of course I find this out when I get home. All I knew was they both had grins and were glowing the day they went home. Now they are saving their pennies to return to Jamaica...HA! I love it when I do that! Get people to love the island the way I do...then they can't stop. Hey I need to call the Jamaica Tourist Board and let them know they need to give me my 'props'! I also discovered a new form of male luring from my girlfriends. Not that I need to lure anymore but it may help some of you ladies. It's called the drink and straw look. You seductively hold the drink in one hand, straw in the other, very coy look on your face while you sexily sip your drink. You eye your target and when you make eye contact slightly raise one eyebrow and...grin (with straw still in mouth). Apparently this works because all the women in my crew seemed to be pulling some fine azz men! HA! Not to mention men coming over with additional offers of drinks, dinner, walks...etc.

So by Wednesday, everyone was on their way home. On this day, my hubby and I transfered our stay over to Sandals Royal Caribbean. I have alot to say about Sandals...much of it not pleasant. As I said in the beginning, I'm not an AI girl but enjoyed my time at Sunset Beach. Needless to say I DID not enjoy Sandals. I'd heard rumors that it was going downhill and it is. The food was horrible and for couple hundred dollars a night you pay to stay there, it is not worth it. The furniture has seen better days and when you sit on it, it feels...moist and smells of mildew. The best thing about this place was the staff. I loved all of them.

My hubby likes to read comic books and he collects old and popular ones. One of his favorites is of course Superman. On this day he decides to wear his Superman t-shirt. SO imagine this 6'5" tall black man, 245lbs. , now tanned to perfection, walking onto Sandals grounds with a royal blue t-shirt with a large Superman "S" on his chest. (He's my Superman! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] ) Well, we get looks of curiosity and a few dirty looks as well on the way to our room. There was a couple that were possibly from Germany or Austria (I'm guessing by their accents when they spoke to each other), who were in the pool when the bellman took us to our room. The woman looked at me as if she smelled something bad. I turned away from her glance and then looked back and she was STILL looking at me with the same dirty look. "Oh BOy"...I say, "what?" says hubby..."this lady is glaring at me like I'm the scum of the earth".
Hubby looks at her, tilts his head and gives her the look of death. HAHAHA..she turns away and whispers to her husband. Later we find out that they are our neighbors for most of our stay! UGH!
We leave our bags and my hubby motions to give the bellman a tip. "Oh sir, there is no tipping at Sandals, no pressure, no problem."...Hubby says," I know..now take the money..you lugged our bags." (He's learning.. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] !) I don't understand how you can have people work in the heat lugging bags, cleaning your rooms, etc. and not tip. I believe in tipping when a service is rendered and done well! No tipping policy? HUH? I know the loads of money I spent to stay here, AI or not, isn't going to the staff! Puhleeze!
We decide to take a walk around the grounds. We meet this charming old man selling gorgeous shells under the pier. "Hi Miss, hello lovely lady" ...he wants me to look at his things. I've already spotted them and know what I want to buy. I pick out two huge shells for my bathroom at home. I didn't have any change so I tell him...take this $10 and I'll come back okay. He was adamant about taking my money and said he would wait. I don't believe in that and wanted him to be sure in the fact that I'd return so I made him take the money. On our return he is singing, "everybody loves Jeffrey..." and I give him the rest of the money. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
We head to the gift shop. Now Sandals ought to be ashamed of themselves on the ticket prices of their merchandise. I looked at my man and told him not to buy a thing. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] We get separated in the store and I hear a loud.."WOW!"...I walk over and one of the salegirls is looking up at my hubby in awe. He turns and smiles at me. "this is your man gyal....wooooweeee," she says..."you go girl!...Superman is your man?!"...we just laugh and she hugs me and we head out of the store.

Off to the beach grill...now out of all the places on the resort..I like this place. This is where all the action is! There is a two man band sitting at the bar singing old Jamaican songs. He belts out, mouth full of gold teeth, "Big Bamboo!!"...hahaha...we laugh and sing along. ALot of the guests are very loud and obnoxious,..another stomach turning event for me. I overhear a woman talking to another lady about, "the natives"...stomach turns again, vein pops in my forehead. I look at hubby and he knows right away...time to go. We head back to the room after getting a jerk cheeseburger and beef patties from the bar. We sit on the verandah in front of our room and play dominos for a few hours while drinking red stripe and humming birds. A moment later, a peacock and her little babies are walking along the concrete path. I then look up and see a hummingbird hovering in front of the hibiscus bush. Aaaah, finally some good out of the bad.

One of the tour companies stationed at Sunset had a very nice man whom I met. He gave me his business card for this resort that he manages in MoBay. Has anyone ever stayed there? By the website they have alot to offer and it appears to be pretty nice. If anyone can give me info I'd appreciate it. I may want to give him my business in the future. Sooo,
We are at Sandals for only four days. I'm glad that we didn't book it for more days than that. My hubby is starting to get the 'two day blues' and so am I because our time in Jamaica is nearing the end. He says, " we need two more days...two more days and then I think I'd be ready to go home." I tell him that after the two days he'd want two MORE days. I hate to tell him that the feeling doesn't go away no matter how many days you add on. You never want to leave. And to think, he hasn't experienced staying in Negril (my favorite place) or Ochi yet. Each day our faces get longer and the days for some crazy reason go by faster and faster.
Last Day....I ordered a continental breakfast in bed because I was tired of eating the crap on the buffet and I wanted to lounge in bed on my last day. Like clockwork, at 8:30 there is a knock on the door and finally a decent breakfast. I had a plate of fruit,danish,pineapple juice and coffee. Deee-lish! Hubby still wanted to try his luck at the buffet. He came back in about 10 minutes time and ate food from my tray. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]
We showered, brushed teeth and headed for our check in station. Sandals provides flight check-in right on the grounds. So we took a number and waited until the AirJamaica rep. called on us. In addition, they had a young lady there from the airport security staff check all of our bags.
One Latino couple from Philly was ahead of us. She opens their bags and thoroughly checks every nook and cranny. Then..uh oh..what the hell...she picks up a box that right away is recognized as a sex game! Everyone in the room hit the floor laughing. The young lady it belonged to turns red. the security woman says, "so how was it?" Her man says aloud,"hey...we had fun that night, I recommend it to anybody!" She is mortified and blushes. I'm embarassed for them and whisper to hubby..."good thing we didn't bring any toys with us...geez [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] ".
So check in is done and we go lounge around on the grounds for a little bit, play more dominos and have a little to eat. Every once in a while one of the entertainment staff walks by and yells, "beat him girl...you better let her win..!" referring to me and our game of dominos. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] Eventually she returns to find out the score and I tell her I won but with no mercy from hubby. He is so competitive and hates to lose. I ask one of the staff when our shuttle arrives for the airport. I like to buy my rum cream, rum, coffee and etc in the airport cause I hate to lug the stuff around. I wait until the last minute to get that stuff. I find out that our shuttle doesn't arrive until 3:45 and our flight boards at 4:30. DANG! That doesn't leave me enough time to shop!

I ask can we leave sooner. But apparently we just missed the 2pm bus. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] What am I going to do? I have to have my liquor and coffee and I'm not buying it from the gift shop..I'd be paying almost double! When we arrive at the airport we fly through security and I head straight for the Jamaica Farewell shop. I'm mad cause I wanted to visit the Margueritaville. Last time I visited Jamaica it didn't yet exist in the airport. Bloody hell!.... look at the time...4:15 and I still don't have my coffee. I like to buy JaBlum but didn't have time to search for it. SO I got whatever they had and flew to the gate. Of course our gate was waaaay the helll in Cambodia and we had to run. I catch a cramp in my legs and the only thing I could do was walk. Hubby runs to the gate to make sure we aren't left behind. Sure enough...another security table. I tell the lady, "you can't search me, Ill miss my flight!" Right away I think that wouldn't be a bad thing but only if I could miss it with hubby. The young man searching my carry on seems to read my mind and takes his sweet time searching my stuff. Finally he lets me go and I make the gate. Back outside into the sun, walking to the metal staircase to the plane. My eyes get glassy, not yet tearful, the heaviness in my stomach starts. Every two or three steps I look to the left, then to the right to take it all in one more time. I reach the top and turn around and look at my honey. "Bye Bye Jamaica...until we meet again..." He looks around at the hills and I see it in his face, he feels the way I do. He takes a deep breath in and smiles. I am crying and I look up to see the flight attendant looking at me. She smiles and says," Welcome aboard." She gave me a look of pity as I walked away to our seat.
We settle in and the plane starts to take off. From my window on the plane I have a perfect view of the island. It gets smaller and smaller and I cry and have a huge marble in my throat. I HATE THIS!! This is torture....why do I do it to myself. I need to hurry up and figure out how to get over this feeling. I look at hubby, my other joy in my life. At least I can be with someone who loves me so much until I can go back to Jamaica. It used to hurt to go home after a trip and be alone. I have a partner now that I can drag along with me...mind you he's not kicking and screaming. Now that he loves this island I can easily say, "how bout a trip babe?" and be on another flight to my Jamaica.

Hope I didn't bore you people too much but that's it for my trip report.

That has to be one of the most heart wrenching descriptions of the dreaded departure I have read. So you lived my dream....t o get married to Mr. Fine in Jamaica. You go girl, thanks for taking me along.

Mi hate Sandals too...nuff said, because folks on this board have gotten to the point where they will tell you you can't express an opnion.

And yes, I took all the pictures I posted. Lookie here, does Superman have an Uncle, brother, older cousin perhaps??????

That was a wonderful report. The pictures are great and you and hubby are such a handsome couple. I wish you two much happiness and joy in your marriage.

We spent our honeymoon in JA too and my hubby (from Ohio) became a JA convert at that point. Getting to know his JA inlaws later was another adventure that completed the picture!
