I don't think the pic was off colour, just to me Treasure Beach sand is way different from the rest of Jamaican sand. True Mountaingal , maybe the bauxite is the culprit, but I am not sure .No where else Yardwise has sand coloured so.

South coast sand is never as white as the North`s.
Yet still, TB`s sand is a go between(brown) the dark volcanic St. Thomas-Clarendon sand and the lighter Negril-Long Bay sand.

Because the North coast has coral reefs close to shore , the pulverised coral makes a whiter sand. The south coast does not have this barrier.Thats my reasoning.

Alas! Lime Cay just a few hundred metres south of the Palisadoes peninsula across the Kingston channel has relatively white sand. White, whilst Port Royal and the rest of the south coast has dark volcanic sand.
GlenG, did you frequent Cable Hut and Brook`s Pen beaches out at Bull Bay?
The black sand and an overhead sun were enough to scorch the soles of the toughest feet.

Q , yes I used to frequent Cable Hut a long time ago. Right by the cable hut.The sand there is very dark, a kind of dark dark gray to me, still nothing like the brownish colour you get at TB.
