Has anyone been there? Please let me know about the food and the service and the rooms. Would you take a child there etc.

Re: Silver Seas in Ocho Rios
Now I KNOW this is the one Wendi took me through to catch the boat. It looks like a former grand hotel that has seen better days. I did not see the rooms, but it was a tolerable enough looking place. Outside is right on the water with what I imagine is a pretty view, but it is not on a beach or anything.
It is at the end of a street that is of ill repute in Ochii, and not for the faint of heart. In my opinion, you would be better off somewhere else with children.

Re: Silver Seas in Ocho Rios
Try Fishermans Point Resort, that has kiddies pool and small play area, mostly on the flat.
They have kitchens/fridge and Tv, used to be a must for me as a Mum on a budget with kids. Helps you to save while your here...Example - 2 litres of Coke in supermarket J$50...small bottle of coke from shop/beach J$50!
BTW..you can take food and drinks onto the main beach in Ochi, bring a cooler bag and load up!

Re: Silver Seas in Ocho Rios
Just returned from Silver Seas with 2 kids and had a wonderful time! Staff is super nice and catering to both adults and kids. We did miss having a kitchen but there's local food right outside the entrance to the property. PM me if you'd like to see some pictures

Re: Silver Seas in Ocho Rios
Personally, I like Silver SEas...Yes, its on James avenue...but you also have access from Main street. You dont have to get to it from James Ave.
Yes, its old, and one of the originals..but to me that gives it charm and character. Its clean and like Jastargirl says...that staff is great. Its definately not 5 star...or even 3 star. But it has a vibe to it that I like.
With kids though, depending on the ages...Fishermans point is a good idea for the fact that you have the kithcen in your room for snacks and the like.

Re: Silver Seas in Ocho Rios
Is Silver Seas the hotel right next door to Hibiscus Lodge? Somehow I think I remember seeing it. If so, I did not know that street was one of ill repute. We walked it daily to resturants, downtown and up to Bibibips. Just wondering. I love it at Hibiscus Lodge.
