Back up the hill to Skycastles and get Cathy settled in K-0 her lovely new home which Sassy is checking OUT of and moving in with me and Classy in our studio. Three girls together in a sardine can. We work it out to perfection though, and all goes well. It was mad fun for me. My dorm fantasy come true X2.

While we are getting Cathy settled I dispense Classy and SHirley to go down to Skycastles office and see about her refund.

I suddenly get a frantic call from the front desk. The Skycastles lady and Shirley are down there having it. She coped the famous Skycastles attitude, and she must not have known who she was dealing with.

Right around this time, my baby arrives with a friend and a bag full of a variety of every pattie you can name that he has bought for his "girls" because he knew they would be hungry. Now mind you, we have all eaten, but they literally dive into the bag as though they have never seen food before.

I am standing back so proud I could die because I LOVE for a man to take charge and take care of me and mine. I literally wanted to SCREAM, that's my man who did this nice thing!!!!! It was a small thing in retrospect, but it was a big deal to me.

He notices that there is tension in the air, and pulls me in the kitchen. I explain Shirley's situation and he tells me I need to go to the office to be with her. She and Classy come back to get a receipt for a charge Skycastles in denying and I tear myself away from him to go with Shirley.

Once we get there with the receipt, they casually say ....Oh, that's it, just OH. Well the next story is that manager is in Kingston and they can't do anything today yada yada. Shirley ain't having it and I try to negotiate a settlement. We go back upstairs not at all happy.


But there's my guy, and somehow he manages to get Shirley to laugh by immitating a preacher doing a healing. All you need to do is get SHirley to laugh just once and her mood is fixed for a good few hours.

There is music and laughter and patties and the view, and more musice and more laughter in the room. Cathy pulls me to the side. She has known him now for a total of 30 miuntes. "Girlfriend, all I have to say is, I understand."

I tell him that I have a song I want him to hear that had sustained me while we were apart, and I put on "Your Touch" by Seal. In front of all of these people he pulls me to him and starts to slow dance with me. Just the two of us in the midst of all these friends. What man that you know would do that? My heart melts. Now do YOU understand?

Shirley delights in teasing me by when his back is turned pretending that she is taking a bite out of his back because he looks like a irrestible caramel candy bar with MUSCLES!!!!!!

I am the happiest little girl in the world.

One by one the friends drift from the room, leaving us alone. He has sent his driver out to buy conch soup and plates of fry chicken for everyone. More being taken care of.

I believe it even started to rain at this point making a very romantice evening.

We have a temporary fix in place of Shirley's problem. I had time with my guy, everyone is fed, Cathy is settled and happy.

He has to work tonight, so he leaves, and later, we all make prepartions for my party which is to start at 8:00.

NO MEN ALLOWED
I want to celebrate my Coulda Woulda Shoulds with the GIRLS.

The guys have all left and we are up in the room deciding what to do. We know that we will have to do makeup hair and swimsuits for M'ville, so why dress twice. The decision is to go to my party as is.

This picture is the last time we are happy at my party. This was before it really got started.


I have been planning this party for a over a year. I had talked with Liddy about getting info for me having it at the RUins which was my dream, but it was wayyyyyyyyyyyy too expensive.

So plan B was to have it at Skycastles with Curry making all of the arrangements. I had been in touch with him off and on about the details, personally and through another board member.

He called me and told me that I couldn't get the band I wanted, but he had made some other arrangements. My only other request was for this special seafood pasta dish he makes which is to die for.

My first disappointment is my requested dish was not prepared, and I did not know until we sat down to eat. I just kept my mouth shut and ate the same old thing we always have at Skycastles.

There is a man setting up some impressive looking musical equipment on the other side of the pool. It looks like enough stuff for a band, so I am encouraged.

A little later this about 5'6" caramel colored middle age man with buggy eyes steps to the mike and announces
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Skycastles resort", and then burst into a vigourous rendition of "It's Not Unusual" by Tom Jones.

I am speechless. First of all, what happened to "Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Marilyn's retirement party....that's Marilyn over there with her friends, (yeah from the Girlfriends)."

Ok I'll be patient. So about 5 Las Vegas songs later done to this karoke machine, I see Curry go over and whisper to him.

Next song, which was one of my 85 yearold mother's favorites when she was in her forties, he says. "I want to say hello to Marilyn and her crew." Like a little shout out one would do. "Marilyn and her crew"???????????? Like 200.00 dollars later I get a shout out on a tacky Karoke mike.

I go over and inform bug eyes that I am in fact his employer for the evening, and that I do not want to hear one more song that is not Black oriented. He takes the mike looks me straight in the eye and burst into...with full imitation accent....
"I see skys of blue......clouds of white....etc. etc. and I say to myself, what a wonderful world.


Ok now I am seeing RED, not clouds of blue. My table is silent. Curry is standing over his food looking like he wants to die. The Skycastles staff is sitting along the wall lookng stunned. Only two white people three tables over are having a ball and applauding.

Then the final blow came. Classy turned to me and said "Girlfriend , I love you, but I can't take another minute of this, I'm going to the room."
Now I am beyond pisssed. I go over, and take the mike from Froggy and make a speech (impassioned, and druken), that goes something like this....
"Hi everyone, My name is Marilyn and this is MY retirement party. For the last 30 years I have spent it teaching YOUR children, bad, good, indifferent, and I came to Jamaica to celebrate MY retirement which I can't do because I have a kid in college, a Jamaica habit and bills. But I want you to know that this is NOT a Skycastles function , they ain't paid nobody, this is my evening....." or something to that effect with my drunk and dejected behind.

Froggy took the mike back and sang three Bob Marley songs, repeating one of them twice cause I reckon that's all he had on the karoke machine.

Now that I have throughly embarrassed myself and the girls I guess the best thing to do is just leave cause I see I ain't getting anything I asked or paid for, so my suggestion is that we ALL leave. And at that I leave my own party with froggy singing for that one couple at table 3.

Back upstairs, the rub is I can still hear his behind from my room. Curry comes up with all the excuses in the world, but I am in no mood to hear it and was not very nice. But even through that I handed him the shorts and three shirts I had brought him. I did ask for my money back, but you know it was gone and I wasn't getting it back.

Afew drinks later and I am ready to go give froggy a piece of my mind Sassy sends Shirley down to keep me in check. Skycastles security is also right behind me.

I inform Froggy that he needs to learn that when someone is paying him he needs to do what THEY want. A few more choice words I cannot put on the board and I am back upstairs.

So that is my retirement party that I drug all these people halfway around the world to attend. I wanted the Carrbbean to just open up and swallow me.

We still go to M'ville and the girls have a wonderful time surrounded by guys from fishermans. Classy and Shirley and Sassy got their dance on.Cathy stayed home, too tired from travel. Mid-night all the tension hit me and I announced I was going home. The girls send Lester to follow me, but I inform him that I am at home in Ochii and I can walk it alone.

As I stagger up the hill to my room I reflect on the day. What a day. I try to focus on the good part of it, and know that I am surrounded by those who love me. When I get home and my head hits the pillow, sweet sleep makes the world go away.

Oh ((((((Marilyn)))))!!!!!! What a shame. Of all people in the world, you did not deserve that. I can't imagine the let down....even in Jamaica. You shoulda got more than a speech out of it.

Maybe a practice run fo the real thing one day....you'll know better the next time.

Feel like we hit a stone wall in the middle of the trip report and such a fine one at that!....

sorry to say but sometimes when depending on others the best laid plans just aren't meant to be.....unfortunate but true

Oh I know he lost his mind now, cause I didn't do that for my husband when I WAS married. With this he walks off, I guess he is on his way to the living room to wait on his drink.

now Miss M honey, one small detail - when i reached on Wednesday I didn't stay in that night, i went out to Mville with y'all and had a good old time makin babies on the dance floor... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

it was a couple days later (Friday nite) that i stayed in, when it all caught up to me and i crashed and burned, laid up in the bed in my beuatiful sky castles home overlooking the lights of the harbour, with the gentle breezes lulling me to sleep, that i fell and could not get up - so i missed jus cheers, which was too bad, and i know I disappoointed you that night, cause it was the one spot you had picked out as the Best Place For Caf.

now regarding Marilyns man, she downplayed my reaction probably so as not to embarass me but i understand only too well. It only took me 5 minutes to TOTALLY GET IT about him, I saw it immeditaley- and started bawlin unconctrollably, embarassed myself in front of him and his frens who i just met. He reminded me SO MUCH of my own take-charge, simple and strong fine man (another reconciliation later in the week fimi too but that is another story for another post), why it broke her heart, why she could dance with other guys but at the end of every night and every trip why NO other man would do, why she loves him so. and it broke my own heart too cause i missed my own honey so much. This man brought us food, kept our spirits up and made us laugh when we had stress with the SC Attitude, brought me conch soup later that day cuase he over heard me say i never had it and an wanted fi try it, he just took charge and made our Gurl SO proud, it made me so proud and happy for her, just having his presence in the room and seein how he looks at her. when i had to turn away form him cau i was bawlin so hard, his whols face fell an he just came and wrapped me up in a big ol hug and sed sorry my sis i dint mean to make you cry. of course his kindness and compassion only made me bawl harder.

and trust, marilyn, now i know how you feel bout him and why - what a FINE PIECA BIG MAN. and not just his looks either, but his spirit and vibe, words can't even explain how my heart feels what you feel fi him, cause i know it in my own heart too. and i know that pure joy too when it's all good between you all over again and you remember why you feel that way and you have it all in your heart again, same way as awlays, like you never left.

Cathy I just looked at my notes and realized it was Thursday that he came over and brought the patties, ait was the day you changed from the D building to K-0. but the sequence of events is the same.

Yeah I did leave your crying out because if you wanted to tell it I would let you.

Now Cathy sees some similarities between my man and hers. It must be a radar she has because I personally do not think that mine exudes as much raw, hot, scorching, sexuality as hers does. My guy has more of a cuddly sexuality. That man of Cathy's just undoes me and Angie. We ain't no good around him.

But for some reason within 5 minutes of being around my guy Cathy is in tears and declaring that although she has tried to be a big girl about this trip, she misses him.

I was so touched when my honey was comforting her. He didn't know why he made her cry, and it hurt him. He looked wounded. So being Mr. Fixx it , he tried to fix it and she cried more. Man that was a touchy evening.

So now we are on Thursday, and it is raining raining raining. We are trying to get to Fishermans as Rohan has finally promised to be there this morning , but there is NO WAY, because of .........THE HAIR.

Now THE HAIR really deserves it's own post, but THE HAIR would be Classy's hair. Mine is wash and go. Caf is the eternal hippie, Sassy had dreads, and Shirley has had her's braided with extensions. BUT that leaves Miss Classsy and THE HAIR. We can't get it wet because the color will run and it will poof. It has to be wrapped, scarfed, ace bandaged, curler bumped, in the rubber band, out of the rubber band, baseball cap protected, and the humidity cannot get to it.

Childdddddddddddddd that hair. It occupied 80% of the trip and had to be perfection at all times. I think it made it up until the last day. It was a running joke with all of the girls.

So here we all are piled up in my place starving and can't go eat because of THE HAIR. We are turning pale, and Sassy is looking frail.

FOr just such emergencies I always bring cans of salmon from the US and purchase onion, bell peppers and rice. I have fresh pineapple juice, champagne, and we are in business. Here's the breakfast I whipped up on short notice for my girls


After breakfast this day is when my honey arrived with the patties and all the money drama occured. After the guys leave we rest for AMNESIA.

I can't choke at work...too much work to do...

But dat was the best darn breakfast...I want that receipe for the salmon cakes...we felt like such princess laying up in the FULL size bed waiting to be served breakfast....BOWN DOWN TO MARILYN

Lemme tell you
I pay a pretty penny here at home to maintain my hair and I can't be walkin down the streets a Ochi lookin like somethin the cat dragged in [img]/forums/images/graemlins/704555_dwl.gif[/img]
Ya'll can't tell me that my hair didn't look good and I got plenty a compliments on it (babyfadda loved the color) and there are some things that my hair could withstand (sweatin it out on the dancefloor, the splashes from the waterfalls, the everyday heat) but if I can avoid rain then trust me I will. Oh and we did go out that day that it rained (front office drama with Ochee) but remember I did have a baseball cap on [img]/forums/images/graemlins/704555_dwl.gif[/img]
But I am glad we stayed in that day. The hours we spent just talking and enjoying each others company will always be cherished [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
