Thank you everyone....and it is the trip report that keeps on going

Two minor incidents that even Classy missed.


The motorcycle:

It is the morning that we are to make the transition to Ochii. We've had our breakfast at Selinas and waddle back down Norman Manley to our hotel full and content. We have been adequately serenaded by the guitar player we had in Novemeber with the mesmerizing eyes. Sweet Lips says he is likely from the Treasure Beach area. She is an expert on that part of Jamacia.

I am thinking how much better can life get? I have had this WONDERFUL time in Negril and I am positively tingling because the morning had finally arrived when I will be going back to Ochii. I haven't set foot in Ochii since last July and I miss it OH SO MUCH.

As we walk up and down Norman Manley CLassy and I are snapping picture of everything that doesn't move fast enough. I am sure everyone has this shot, but here's mine


I am walking along between Sassy and Classy, and WHOOOSH a tall dark and handsome pulls up on a motorcycle, looks between the two roses and indicates the thorn.

WHo me?

Yes you.

I want to talk to you.

OK

I go over and the girls just keep walking.

Oh lord what is she up to now?

We talk for a few minutes and the next thing the girls know I am whisking down Norman Manley on the back of the motorcycle. I wave goodbye to them as I whisk by. What bothered me was they gave me a tired wave back just as though this was a run of the mill thing (how'd they learn me so fast, we've only been together two days?).

On the way down the boulevard, with the Jamaican breeze blowing through my blond tresses (ok they call it blonde in Jamaica, and that's what I'm claiming darn it), I think ok, just a minute ago I asked...how could it get much better? Guess I got my answer.

I haffi admit this wasn't half bad. Talk dark and handsome was no joke to hold on to. He was all flat stomach and abs and pecs and all that good stuff. I made it my business to press everything I had to press as close to him as possible.

On this ride I was to learn that this guy knows Queen B and Judi and Kim. See, he's practically family. I also learn that he takes people on private bike tours to Roaring Riveer. OK ears perk up now. As part of that business I can't mention , we always try to cater things to the individual. Sweetlips taught me a good lesson that there may be one lady in the "group" who wants to "ungroup" from time to time. THIS WOULD BE PERFECT!!!!! You get tired of the the planned itinerary and want to take the path less traveled and get off for a little bit. Hey a bike ride through the hills with a fine man. That works for me. Got his contact info, and he will be hearing from us.

When we get to the end of Norman Manley he whispers. "Where do you want to go and what do you want to do next." OOOOO child if I didn't have a van arriving in a few.....(nah you know that ain't me, just kidding). I tell him that I need to return to my girls and he says fine. He takes me right back to them and I think it is aroudn the time that T-Small arrived to give us a ride back to the hotel.

When we pull up to the girls they have like no expression on their face. You would have thought I had done nothing out of the ordinary. I guess maybe for Marilyn that wasn't. I wish someone had taken a picture though, but I guess Classy was just too full of banana pancakes.


The Leaf

It was the terrible morning of leaving Ochii. Five little ladies are sitting around the table at Skycastles with heavy hearts. We order food for the first time this trip not because we want it, but because we will need it. No one really cares about what they order because we are not going to taste it anyway. We just know that it is a long way to the airport and the food on the plane will be terrible.

The table is silent. We are all looking at our view for the last time. The view. If I live to be 100 I will NEVER tire of this view.


No one says anything to anyone. I don't know if Classy has noticed, but throughout the trip, no matter where we went I always saved her the seat that faced the views. It was her first time to Ochii and I wanted her to get the full effect. I would sit with my back to whatever, and then turn my chair if I wanted to look at it.

So we sat, reflecting, loving,sighing, aching. Suddenly there was a loud smacking sound from no where. WHACK! A gust of wind had planted a big tree leaf smack on the back of my head. Funny thing about it was there was no tree immediately behind me, and the one that was near didn't have those kind of leaves.

Everyone just sat there looking at me in stunned silence, as after this leaf hit me it just stayed there, stuck to my head like it was glued. I let it stay there for a few seconds as to me it felt like one big old hug from mother Jamaica. Right when she knew I was leaving and my heart was ripping out. It said "Go ahead Marilyn, you'll be bok mon."

Classy broke the silence. She is an omen girl like me and saves things pressed in her journal. I know she will press the leaf humminghbird I had Mr. One TOoth to make for her at M'ville.

"Save it"

Save it was what she said, so I reached around back detached it from my head and put it in my travel purse.

When I got home, I had forgotten about it. By now it is dried and withered and brown and crinkly. But I have it.....my hug from Mother Jamaica. I almost felt triumphant that I had indeed smuggled some "vegitaiton" through immi and customs.

Classy was right. Save it. Save that feeling that spirit, that love for Jamaica, because you are going to need it when you go bok mon.

About Northwest Airlines. WHen they get Classy's letter they are going to have to come off some money or a ticket or something because they put that girl through pure hell.

i just printed out your report to send to valerie (btw she can't wait to meet you and angie for GFT in july!) and it was over 100 pages (and that didn't I didn't include any boardie comments)

she is going to love reading this...just like a good book....close her bedroom door...curl up in bed and read this wonderful journey while sipping on her daiquiri...i can picture it now....all the while calling me every minute and starting the sentence using that infamous new orleans accent "girl"

I realized while reading this report that it is full of women power. GirlFriends that respect and appreciate each other from all corners of the world. Several nights ago, Janet Jackson gave an acceptance speech at a function and she spoke about women:

She said: God gave special strength to women. Strength to Get Down, Get Up, Get past and most importantly, Get Over. Women are strong and a force to be reckoned with. Just notice how many of us post on this board and how much support and strength we give and receive. I love it when we all get along as we are doing in this thread...life is good when everyone is in harmony. Lets make every effort to maintain this harmony and celebrate each others differences.

Oh my God I know who you're talking about! Isn't he a doll! We always visit him when we go up to Roaring River. On New Year's Day, we had to drag the other Kim off that bike.

Here's a picture he's in. You can't see him too good but he's sitting in the middle with the plaid shirt. Oh, and look, he's so fine, smoke is coming off him! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
