The less that is done for tourists the better. Upgrades and improvements for the residents are certainly in order though.

PLEASE...

No all inclusives or large hotels.
NO mega bars
NO rip off artists on the beaches [in fact fewer than currently UGLY it up for everyone else]
NO MacDonalds
NO shopping malls
No cruise ships

Just bring back Alvin Senior. He was my friend [up here in Toronto] and I miss him.

This really made me smile QK [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] When ever we are in Jamaica we want Jamaican food, and our friends see that we get our fill. But, when ever we are on our way to MoBay (or Mandeville) and ask what they want to eat, it's always KFC [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Don't I know that! My friend just bought a car and blew the engine. He's replacing it now... hope he can use it to make some money.

I was reading in the Boston Globe today that some Cape Cod businesses are in danger of shutting down because they can't get the seasonal help they've been counting on for the last ten years. A lot of them are going to petition the government to take action and do something about the cap on H2B(?) visas.

It's difficult to get local people to take the seasonal jobs because they already have year round work. The pay is low and no one can afford to rent in the tourist areas for a season on the little money they make.

Memorial Day is usually opening day for the busy season. Pray that something gives. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]ray:

Outside of Axel at Mar Blue who does the very best food in town, and Preacher (wherever did he disappear to?), the women of Treasure Beach who cook at villas -- Ann Vassell, Millie Clarke, Bev Elliott, Suzie Buchanan, Joyce -- and many many more -- are simply without equal.
