Re: Negril/OchoRios - Trip #12 Revelations and Reconciliation
Laurel,
Watch out you will be on this site all day. There are a lot of interesting people over here. A lot of people with the same interests as we have.
I have been addicted for 3+ years now.
We do meet up down in Jamaica ..You’d be surprised how many have stayed at The Whistling Bird.
Keep Thanksgiving open OK?
Re: Negril/OchoRios - Trip #12 Revelations and Reconciliation
OK - YOU CAUGHT ME ....
My name is Laurel - I stand before you all and admit .... I am a JAMACAHOLIC!! It is an addiction ... and the only cure I know of is to board the plane.
Thanks for the welcome ... I imagine I will hook up with some of these members at some point.
George - Thanksgiving is definately on the books ... and yes ... I have spent the entire day in here.
Bye for today - I know what I will be up to again tomorrow .....

(((Marilyn)))
I'm so happy for your reconciliation!!!
I let it stay there for a few seconds as to me it felt like one big old hug from mother Jamaica. Right when she knew I was leaving and my heart was ripping out. It said "Go ahead Marilyn, you'll be bok mon."

It seems to be the trip report that keeps reviving itself, along with Ochee's. That is very flattering because they do take a lot of time and energy and emtion and love ot produce. Therefore you can understand how good it feels when they are still there, somewhere on the baord.
I see that you are looking for YOUR next adventure. Have you settled on it yet?
Re: Negril/OchoRios - Trip #12 Revelations and Reconciliation
It's so hard to decide! I'm leaning towards Port Antonio - haven't seen it yet and it seems like a good location since it's so near so many other cool places.
Have you been there? If so, what's your experience? Any recommendations?

I went looking in the archives for my trip report that covered Port Antonio, but then I remember that it was the one I had to have deleted because the lady who went with me was internet paranoid. At the time I thought she was ridiculous for this, but due to recent developments, I think she was dead on the money.
Anyway, I was only there for a little time, a few hours really, but my impression is that it is a place for people who want to do nothing. For some, this is a noble pursuit, as they do plenty in their daily lives and just want to relax, but for me personally, I found it boring.
It is quiet and graceful and beautiful. I found it very untoursity, but I require activity and night life and .....well you get the picture.
Re: Negril/OchoRios - Trip #12 Revelations and Reconciliation
Marilyn - I hear you. Fortunately or unfortunately, I need quiet when I'm on vacation - can do a few days of wildness but my job is too crazy all the time so I need to detox on vacation. One size does not fit all!
Thanks for your response - you are an amazing resource. Is this post a record on replies???? 502!!!
Re: Negril/OchoRios - Trip #12 Revelations and Reconciliation
No I think Vi's report went more pages and had more responses. To my knowledge, that was the "record".
Back to you....Port A area would be perfect for what you describe. Also it is completely different in vibe from other places in Jamaica as there the British influence is the last hold out.
The people there sort of look at us curiously as like "how in the world did you find your way all the way over here." I felt like I was under a microscope lol.
