Re: OchoRios - My "Wait any longer and I would have suffocated trip report"
I forgot to mention in my last installment...that I packed all 5 suitcases for our departure...only to come back in the room and find that Mr. O had destroyed my efforts...it seems that he was looking for something...and did not think about the fact that we were leaving the next day. So when I got back in the room, I had to redo about 3 of the suitcases.o/ /o
Monday morning departure day
I wake up and tell Mr. O that today is the day. He heads off into town to find a ride to take us to pick up the kids in Epworth...and say our goodbyes to family.
I head up to the girls' unit. Marilyn and Classy are standing around in a daze. When I open the door...I run into Classy's arms...bawling my eyes out. Marilyn grabs us both and we stand there crying like three babies. Soon, Sassy walks in...and we start bawling all over again. We straighten our faces enough for a quick picture...then we head to Curry's for breakfast. For some reason, we cannot face going to Fisherman's Beach to say goodbyes on our last day. It would make our leaving seem more permanent...more real somehow. Classy and Marilyn don't have much time before the taxi comes to take them to the airport...
We sit down to eat...and really food is just being pushed around our plates...no one is talking. We are glancing around at our surroundings for one more look...tears are flowing from my eyes...Classy refuses to cry but she is definitely pouting. Marilyn turns to face the water...and you can tell that she is weeping too. When she turns back around with as much composure as she can muster...she sighs...long and deep. Suddenly a leaf slaps her in the back of her head and lodges in her hair. She slowly reaches up to free it...and gets an epiphany that Jamaica is trying to hold on to her as well. Classy tells her to press it into the pages of her GFT diary for safekeeping.
Toot Toot!!! Their ride is there...isn't he too early?? We all get up to help the girls get the Coming to America luggage sets...they each have ten bags apiece. The driver tells us to let him take care of the luggage. So we stand around dumbfounded...looking at each other and trying our best not to cry.
Lady Z walks up with Cappy....introductions are made. We all hug him up. Then it is time for the ladies to leave. They board the van...I am waving and crying. I start walking away with Sassy, Lady Z and Cappy...but I keep turning back to get one more glance.
Lady Z, Cappy, Sassy and I sit and chat while they enjoy their breakfast. Soon, Mr. O comes to tell me that our ride is ready to go up the hillside. Sassy rides with us. So we hug and stay goodbye to Lady Z and Cappy. Then off we go.
Sassy is amazed at the scenery going up to Epworth. I point out Murphy's Hill on the way up. We share the road with more cows. We finally arrive...and Christopher is playing Playstation 2 and not too happy to see us. kikiki
Jaden runs into my arms all fat and chubby and happy. Mommmmieeeee he squeals. He starts crying if someone even looks like they will take him out of my arms. We stop at the school where Mom works to say goodbye...then we are off to wait for Marshall to arrive.
Marshall arrives on time. He is not talkative on this trip...he understands the quiet passengers in his van. Sassy falls asleep in the front...my family had the longest faces in history. Not one word was uttered the entire ride.
I take so many pictures on this ride back...I couldn't stop myself...some have since been erased because they were too blurry. I will post them later.
We arrive at Sangsters...say goodbye to Marshall and then we check in for our flights. Sassy finished first...and meets up with us at the security checkpoint. We are starving (as usual)...so we head to M'ville in the airport. Sassy finishes her meal and has to head to her terminal. Goodbye my friend! I rush to do some last minute souvenir shopping...then it is time to board our flight.

I didn't want to call her out...BUT!!!! She fell asleep on the way back down from my family's house too. I thought she was going to find a bed...and fall asleep while we were there.

Oh My - it took me most of the afternoon, between bits of work, to get thru this post. What a wonderful report.
If I got the 'jist of it' ... several chat room members met for a vacation in Jamaica?? Was this the first time you had all met each other? Or had some of you met over time?
What a wonderful time you all must have had - I have the same reaction and actions every time I have to leave Jamaica - My first visit there was about 25 years ago - something has always drawn me back ... and now the other half of my life is there. My visits are always too short and too far in between.
I loved seeing all the terrific photos. You should post more if you have them. Post some of all in your group and list their names .... I just popped into this web page today and found these reports - but I already feel as if I know you all ... so many of the same experiences and so many of the same 'loves' ....

Laurel
I knew Classy and Sistacaf before this trip, but I had never met Ochee Heart, Sassy Ras, and Love for Jamaica, and Lady Z in person before. I felt like I knew them, but had never met them prior to the trip.
