Yes Seveen, things do change. I could tell that there was an erie quiet in that area. I thought it was because it was mid-day, mid-week. Nothing was going on at the bar.

I guess the surroundings fit my mood at the time.

What happens next is truly unbelievable yet typical in my life.

We heard a beep; Agee announced the driver is here. I go to get my things and I hear her tell him to take me to the airport. I can’t believe this is it…I am leaving.

I set my suitcase down next to the car and turn to give Agee one last hug. My eyes immediately fill with tears. I can still hear her say “I’m gonna miss you girlfren. Hurry back!”

I can’t speak.

Still in our sisterly embrace, I open my eyes. I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS!! I am so shocked I drop my backpack. Agee rocks me a little, thinking I’m just reacting to leaving.

No, it wasn’t that.

Of all of the cabdrivers in Montego Bay, why does mine happen to be Careeb??? I can’t deal with this drama right now having to say good-bye to one more person I don’t want to leave.

As Agee bent down to pick up my bag, I quickly gave him the “finger across the lips” gesture. Of course he was confused, but he went along with it.

OHMYGOODNESS!!! I can’t believe this. I can't explain why I didn’t want Agee to know that we knew each other. I guess I had a quick flash back of the evening we met and felt embarrassed. I just don’t want to have to explain the particulars to her. I just wanted to leave. Plus, I didn't know what was going through his mind.

I put my camera bag and backpack on the seat while he loaded my suitcase. I felt as if I were moving in slow motion. It felt like a dream. Only everything was clear, not hazy. Definitely a dream I had no control over. We said nothing to each other. We didn't even make eye contact.

I gave Agee one last hug and promise to return, then into the car.

He started the ignition; made sure the way was clear and pulled off. I finally found the strength to speak.

Careeb!!! What are you doing here???"

He said nothing. He didn't even look at me through the mirror. He drove down Gloucester Avenue for about 2 minutes, then turns left somewhere then right somewhere then right again. I didn't utter a sound.

He slowed the car down and pulls over to the side. Left…right…I think it was right. He gets out of the car, comes around to my side and opens the door.

"Come please." was all he said. He was wearing dark sunglasses so I couldn't see his eyes. Is he angry??? I don't know. Should I get my bags? Yes, I think I should. Where am I??? Do I have Agee's phone number on me??? What is he going to do?

I went to get my camera bag when he grabbed hold of my right hand and eased me towards him. Should I scream...no...yes...no...no…

"I waited for your call. Vi, why didn't you call me. Tennocloc came den went. Why didn't you call me??"

I was speechless. He's now holding both my hands. I can't go anywhere...I didn't want to go anywhere.

"When I did not receive the call from you, I came to the Glorianna. Dem say you went out with your friends. You were not here. I don't understand why you didn't call."

He’s excited, not angry. He looks so sincere, so hurt. Frankly, I thought I had an option to call him. I simply decided not to. Why can't I just say that??? Because I still can't believe he is here, we are together!!!

I just listen until he finally realizes that he hasn't given me a chance to respond.

"Do you fear me?? Do you tink I would hurt you?? Were you afraid??"

"No."

"I would never hurt you Vi. I would not hurt you. You have nothing to fear!"

"Careeb...hush, let me explain."

He smiled, looked down, then at me, took a deep breath and said, "Nah madda now."

Still holding my hands. I want them there.

"What time your flight depart?'

"5:00"

He glances at his watch. I'm not sure, but it must be around 2:45 or so. Maybe later.

"There is time."

Time for what??? I think to myself.

He opens the front door and I get in. He closes the door. We drive off.

"Careeb...where are we going??? To the airport?"

"Eventually."

"I can't miss this flight."

"You will not miss it. I promise you."

"Careeb..."

"Puhleeze Vi, rahlax. Trust me, I will never harm you."

Why does he continue to reassure me about not hurting me??? Do I look that worried??? I probably do, I feel like I’m being kidnapped but not by force. I tried to keep a mental note of where we are going, where we are. I don't remember any of this route. Fields and trees, cows and dogs... no street signs, no 7-11, no emergency call boxes just beautiful, beautiful Jamaica.

He stops the car. He looks at me and says "Come with me please I want to show you sumting."

Again, I willingly cooperate.

We walk through a clearing in the trees and down a short narrow path. ohmygoodness, I see her!!! I catch a glimpse of the magnificent blue waters of the Caribbean. All of a sudden, I am calm because I know I am safe.

I am now standing in full few of the most breathtaking sight imaginable. Tall trees surround us blocking us off from the rest of the world. I am so consumed by what's around me that I forget for a moment that he is here.

"I knew you would like it ere."

I love it here. I made my self at home. I took off my shoes to allow my toes one last opportunity to frolic in the coolness of the water and caress the sand. It felt heavenly. I stood there for maybe 3-4 minutes just savoring the feeling. My head back, sun in my face and shoes in my hand.

He stood behind me, rested his chest on my back and placed his hands on my arms and whispered ever so softly: ”This is why I will NEVA leave Jamaica.”

The combination of the soothing waters on my feet, the warmth of the sun, the unexpected welcomed breeze and his touch, his voice made me forget the saddness of leaving (for now anyway).

"I didn't think I would ever see you again, Vi."

I thought to myself...That's right!!! I turn to him..."How DID this happen??"

He just smiled and turned me back to face the water. He wrapped him arms around my waist and place his chin on my shoulder. My knees went weak and I stumbled. He thought I lost my footing in the sand. “Mi won’t let you fall.” And he held me tighter.

I closed my eyes and waited for him to speak. To let me know whether or not I should take back my heart, return it to its place of safety or let him keep it.

He told me that he didn't know what the future is going to bring. After we talked the night we met, he thought he could forget about me, but he would remember certain things I said and he couldn't get them out of his mind. He said he liked the passion and sincerity in my words. He said he also felt it when we hugged.

He wants to be my friend. We should stay in touch. When I return we will see if a “will” has kept us connected.

His arms were still around my waist. I feel good, I feel beautiful, I feel like a size 12!!!

I told him how I felt about him, that I like him a lot. I told him that I slept in my shirt the night we met because I loved the scent of his cologne. He said he wasn't wearing cologne. We both just laughed.

"Careeb...I can't go...I have to stay."
"Vi you can't stay...you haffi return."

I turned to face him. "You want me to go??"
"No I want you to come back."

I found myself securely in his arms. This is so right...soo right...soooo good. Not like the first time he held me. Better because now he wants to comfort me, sooth me and caress my soul. We connect.

We shared tid-bits of information about each other. Some personal some not. He told me he likes to sing.

I had a flash-back about the time some other guy told me he loves to sing. I begged him to sing for me. Lawdamerci!!! I begged him to stop. lol I still can’t listen to “Reasons” by Earth, Wind and Fire! So I just told Careeb that I would like to hear him sing...one day. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

“Vi, I have to take you to de airport now.”
“I know.”
“Are you okay?”
“Yes.”

He kissed my cheek, squeezed my hand and said, “Let’s go babygirl.”

At the airport, he took my luggage inside and carefully placed at the terminal. I asked him how much I owe him. First he kind of “mashed up him face” then he said Five Dollars. I handed him the money. He went over to an elderly baggage handler and gives the five to him. I quickly took out another five and said “Wait a minute Careeb. Don’t forget his tip.” He takes it, give me a quick peck on the lips and hand it to the man. OOOhhh I think I felt my toes tingle.

He gave me a card with his cell and home phone number on it. I gave him my promise to call. We hugged and I left. With a smile.

I made my way down the narrow isle of the plane to my seat with backpack and camera bag in tow. OHH I didn’t get one picture of my Careeb. After about 4 minutes reality set in…OMG…I’m leaving Jamaica.

It hurts so I cry.


Good night for now, sweet Jamaica...God willing, I will be with you again.

I should have left my office 45 min. ago .... I am getting paid overtime now - but I could not wait until Monday to finish this.

I told my fellow about all the stories I have been reading here - and asked him if he knows many of the people that are posting ... I know he knows George .... I told him I would like us to be able to try to connect with 'The Group' during one of your party nights .....

After reading and rereading this report it touches me in a different way each time, I laugh I cry and I send up a prayer that the things you Dream will be the things that come True.

Our time in July has so much anticipation for all of us, it is finally putting a face with the words spoken in cyberspace and the spoken words thru phone calls. Its seeing our Beloved (JAMICA) AGAIN AND THROUGH THE EXPEIRIENCES WE WILL HAVE WITH OUR NEW FAMILY. It will be about learning new things about ourselves and each other.


But if any of us can come back and FEEL JAMAICA and be spritually touched in the way that Vi was, then I consider this one of the GReatest Blessings we can Receive.

Vi, Your Gift to us was as Beautiful the 20th time as it was the first. I look forward to meeting My Sisters in July.

Thank you Vi, you know I needed this. You truly have a gift.

This is my 2nd time around with this report but I feel like I am reading it for the first time.
Great writing.
I hope this upcoming trip is as wonderful, NO .............make that MORE WONDERFUL than the last. You can't miss with Marilyn etal.

I said it the first time and I'll say it again. You are truely an amazing writer. I loved every minute reading this. While I was reading it felt like I was reading it for the first time.

(((Laruel))) Thank you girl! I’m glad you enjoyed it and hung in there with me. What an honor for you to stay overtime to read it. That is too funny.

As for a Careeb update, we spoke a couple of times after I got home. But things dropped off. Meeting him was an eye opener for me. His kindness and gentleness was what I needed at the time. I went there to sort things out and let go of some the crap that kept me so stressed. I really didn’t do that the entire trip, until the end when I met him. I think he and I clicked more as friends than anything else. Now, no matter how down I get, all I have to do is I think of him I can smile and feel better. That tells me that just meeting him, in a way, served its purpose. Seeing him in July would be nice. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Laurel, that would be great if we could all get together. We’ll keep in touch!!!!!

Hey Dr. B!!! Yes it was magical. I would read that part over and over and remember tiny details each time. When I started reposting I promised myself I wouldn't change anything from the original, except add more pictures. So it was veeeery hard not to elaborate more on our conversation this time.

Although the same information, the presentation was slightly different and made the story flow a little smoother. It bought back a field full of memories. YES girl, I just finished reading your pms! All I can say is WOW!!! LOVED IT to the max!!! If I were a professional editor, I would love to put your experience in story or book form. Honestly—girl just give me a few hours, I’ve got some questions for you. I’ll be sending you a pm later today.

About the photos, unfortunately I didn’t take a whole lot. I do have more, but they are of Agee’s family and other folks. I don’t think I should put them out there without their knowledge. But next trip…WATCH OUT!!! I’ve come to learn that scenery is very important when posting reports. Although folks on the board may not recognize some of the people we meet, a lot of them know the places.
