Did you learn any thing, songs, words I had so much fun in WATOTO children's village located in Kampala , Uganda. I learnt a song YESU KWAGALA (sp) while I was there, I am glad your feet touch the mother land and hope many others will have the opportunity of going there
those pictures of the children are simply marvellous, NN. their future may be uncertain, but you'd never know looking at them.
was it cold in South Africa? I remember going to Nairobi years ago and being surprised at the cool temperatures.
Did you get a sense of what happened to the children after they graduated from school? are jobs hard to find?
is there still a lot of social separation between blacks and coloureds and whites? do they go to parties together, are restaurants still "socially" if not legally separated?
how long did it take for you to plan this trip and the itinerary?
Nice Nurse hopefully I'll be going to my husband"s home Kenya!He went last year and bought me back several animal carvings I have my own zoo here! Zebras are my absolute favorite can't wait to get there on my Birthday!

I did learn some new words, eg. Dumela = Hello, but because we visited so many different places, I was completely confused on whether to use them with the Xhosa or the Zulu tribes. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]
Unfortunately, I did not learn any songs. I sang the national anthemn at the lighing of the Olympic torch though - where I also saw Nelson Mandela. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] I was also given a Zulu name Nonclancla which means lucky.
It was GREAT and I just cannot stop thinking about my time there and how lucky I was to have made that trip.
