Thanks so much everyone for not saying that my report is way too sappy. I appreaciate your kind words.

I made the decision before leaving Atlanta to truely experience Jamaica this time. Every smell, every taste, every view, every feel, every person on a new level. So often when I am there the days run together and when I return everything is a blur. I wanted to have vivid, detailed memories this time to bring home with me. I was determined to see each person individually, their true color and celebreate them and be celebrated exactly they way we are. I promised myself that I would not perform for anyone. I would not be the cute Angie, the funny Angie, the wise Angie, the cleaver Angie, the american savy Angie....just plain old Angie. This would be difficult because we women are programmed from day one to please and as such, loose our identies so often in others. Moment by moment, step by step back to me.
This trip I was devoted to healing and growing into the adult inside of me. It was also devoted to indulging my every desire. This was my trip, my way.

JULY 7th:
Check out was noon and I didn't want to leave a moment before. I called a friend and told him I was in the country and needed a ride to Bar-b-barn.

Soon we were having drinks and chatting away. Noon came too soon and with my bags packed, we were off to Bar-b-barn. I throw my things in the room and go directly to the bar to find QueenB. I find her on her stool and we chat for a moment. She calls a friend on the phone and tells them to come on down.

We sit and chat and then I spot her…..Marilyn. She has come early to surprise me. Let me explain that Marilyn and I enjoy surprising each other so much. Sending birthday gifts and trying to come up with the most unique item to put into our GFT gift bags. It’s always so fun with her….trying to out do each other and keep each other excited about life. I hug her so tight I can feel that she is surprised that I am so glad to see her. I come from a family of kissers and huggers and it catches people off guard sometimes that I give such full hugs.

The rest of the intoductions were made and the laughing began. There were moments during this trip and day that we laughed so much each day that we almost fell off the bar stools time and time again. A good laugh is essential for me….full bodied…gutteral laugh that will have you bent over in pain and holding your face.

Decided not to do anything today other than sit at the bar and entertain each other. The night fell and we could hear the tree frogs close by. Marilyn and I smiled at each other because we miss this sound above all else in American. What could be better than sitting at a bar, with one of your best friends, strong drinks and tree frogs? Ah yes, your room withing walking distance.

One of my most favorite things about Jamaica is the "night sounds". I love to sit on the veranda, close my eyes and just listen. It is so soothing. Whenever I get a call from Jamaica I always tell them to hush for a moment, close my eyes and just listen.
