Negril/SouthCoast - Pictures from March 2004 trip

We weren't on spring break but it seemed like everyone else was! Never been to Negril in March and it was kind of cool to see everything so crowded.

I took photos sporadically this trip...my daughter took nearly as many as I did. We were in Negril, I've taken about a million pictures of Negril on our trips there before, so I didn't feel I had to document it much. We did hit Treasure Beach and Black River for a day and I took pics then, and a few just to show how busy Negril was. I pulled my family pictures out of these but i may put them up at some point in the future with a password.

Ohliz - The photos are nice. I have added a couple to my screen saver.

The shocker was Paula with her new hair
I guess we all like to change up sometime.

How did TB turn out? Was it too quiet? I remember your hubby wasn't keen on going there. Do you recommend Jakes?

Seveen, Paula said she did her hair specifically "for spring break" - so I don't know if she kept it. *I* was shocked by her glasses! She looks as great as ever, and so did Lloydie.

We were only in TB for a few hours, and it was only my sister in law, myself and our 4 kids. The dads and grandma stayed in Negril. (we traded for a night out later on....)

I asked Sala to pick us up in Negril in the morning, I think it was 8. We got coco bread and drove to Treasure Beach, to Jake's, to hang out and have breakfast. (I'd called ahead - yes you can hang out there an use their pool and beach as a non-guest, particularly if you're eating a meal). SO we pulled into Jake's, the kids ran off to check out the saltwater pool, we ordered coffee and breakfast (mmm...smoked marlin with a bagel, callalloo and saltfish, good b'fast stuff) and hung out for an hour or so. Then we walked along Jake's beach around the corner to meet Dennis, the same guy that took us to BR by boat last year.

He met us on Golden Sand's beach which, i must say, is a really nice beach....wavy in a good way.

Then we said goodbye to Sala and went to Black River by boat. Stopped to let dolphins swim around our boat for awhile - man hte kids loved that - then went up the river. Stopped for a swim up past the bridge, and had Dennis drop us off in Black River where Sala met us to take us back to Negril.

We were in Negril before dinner. It's a nice way to see a bit of TB, go to Black River the fun way (by boat, via Pelican Bar) and not take longer than a day.

DO you have some kinda connection? You always seem to find the dolphins.

Well I've been twice and seen them twice. Dennis says you don't ALWAYS see them, but most of the time they're there.

As opposed to captive dolphins at a place like Dolphin Cove, these dolphins are ENJOYING the encounter, they hear the boats and seek them out, from curiosity or fun or whatever it is that motivates dolphins to do things. They weren't just swimming by, they came to us and played iwth us...swimming under the boat from both sides, around it...no one fed them or anything, they were just playing.

So I'd say the chances of anyone seeing them are mighty good, based on my 100% successful dolphin sighting rate so far [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
