We go back home to rest up for the River Party which is now a Beach party. Oh it's just a simple little thing with about 1.500 of your best friends. Cars every where, food carts here and there, and two huge bars.

I meet Marshall's twin, and I do mean twin, and he hoovers over me all night, dancing with me and protecting me. I had one protection situation which I don't know if it will come out in another report, but it is not mine to tell. But Marshall twin reached over got behind me, folded me in his arms, rested his chin on my shoulder, and glared at the guy who was twice his size with a "Don't even THINK about it look. Oh he was my knight in shinning armor. I got his number, I need to call him. Too sweet.

Stone Love is playing tonight, and where as I have always heard about them, I am not impressed. They play a little and holler into the mike a lot in real thick patois that I couldn't catch a word of. Sometimes I can understand it, but not a word of this do I understand...nor do I understand how this is entertaining. But I guess it's a Jamaican thang and I don't understand.LOL

Still being under the stars on the beach, dancing with a nice guy is better tban Memphis anyday.

The girls are out there somewhere I know, having a good time I hope. I get hungry and decide to go in search of soup. Someone asks, do you need me to go with you? No, I am at home, I am fine.

I am walking through the crowd and someone calls me, but not by my name. I ignore and keep walking. He follows me, more insistent. Then grabs me a little. I swing around, "WHAT".

I can't see his face because he has one of those bandanas tied and knotted on the left and a different color tied and knotted to the right, and a baseball cap over those two bandannas.
I turn and really look through all of this stuff and see that it is Paul. Next I am in his arms hugging an old friend. He is taking me to get my soup now and it was wonderful just to see a familiar face.

I get my corn soup and it is wonderful. At the end of the evening, I went home with some friends, knowing that this is to be my last night in Ochii.

YOU KNOW WHAT? That makes at least a dozen of us...based on the pm's i'm getting! Had we stuck to the damn story instead of making thinly veiled insults at other people's reports...we'd all be reading happily along now wouldn't we? But then, human nature, people tend to repeat the same mistakes over and over and over again. Downright nauseating. Since a moderators comments were requested...Here are mine:

I have been following this report...as I do ALL reports in this forum. Marilyn mentioned RACE...yes. She mentioned her feelings of being uncomfortable with the actions of two people...and again, mentioned their race.

AS a white person, I do sometimes cringe when people bring up race in that manner...because I feel that it MIGHT be implied that "because they were white they had no right to do what they were doing." BUT...Marilyn did not say that...And had they been chinese, or even black, I would hope that Marilyn would still have been uncomfortable with thier actions. I know I would have been. They were uninvited into that school yard and were empty handed. That would have made ALL of us uncomfortable because 99% of us go into the schools with gifts and goodies.

I too personally have issues when people make comment on WHITE people in Jamaica and Jamaica being a BLACK country. I feel as Jamaican as any black person here due to my relationship with Jamaica. BUT AGAIN....Marilyn did not post anything "racial" she just happened to mention the race of the said people. So I personally did not let it effect me personally. I KNOW that I respect Jamaica and Jamaicans...as do all of us here...How we each choose to travel and post and take pictures is a personal choice. NO ONE HAS TO LIKE IT BUT OURSELVES.

NOW that I have stated my personal feelings...I will state my Moderator feelings.

Marilyn has not broke any rule that I can see. Race is mentioned in posts on this board all the time. Members like Tonic and Tropicana often post about "race" and identify the subjects of their posts by the color of their skin and often the color of their hair.

SO.....with that said....as others have stated...if it bothers you to read this thread, you have the right NOT TO. IF you want to discuss it and your feelings feel free to PM me...so that we dont turn this into a ON THE BOARD issue. Those with personal and private issues with anyone in this thread please lets keep them personal and private. WE are grown up adults, not grade schoolers....lets act like it, ALL OF US. Loops, the perspective I take is this -- if I don't like it (no matter what) I just leave it alone. Whether making thinly veiled insults at other people's reports or if there is something that I think is "not cool" (and believe me, I've seen some stuff that is so NOT cool and I would be peee'd if it was me or mine) I just move on -- I build a bridge. If it is that offensive I just choose not to read it anymore.

This is Marilyn's report so please let her do/write/type/display what she feels. This is her point of view and her perspective, and as I do with others posting, whether I agree/like them or not, I must respect them for where they are in their feelings.

Now -- can we just keep this to the trip and nothing else at this time. Ain't no need for this considering this was supposed to be about a trip to JA -- now really, how messed up can that be??

The last show I was at (not Stone Love) the DJs were hollering fi "Lighta" so much that the crowd was hollering back at them to shut up and play the dang chune! It was really annoying....but as you said, betta than being here!

Monday morning
So soon.
How fast can 6 days go.
It is my job to get everyone up for the 9:30 pick up by Marshall.
I have thrown things in the suitcase like I don't care. You would never think that I was on my way to 6 more days in Negril. My heart was breaking.
Vi gives so much to D for her and the 9 boys. She is such a kind and giving person and I am just so thankful for what she has done.

We slowly get ready and drag around trying to drag this out as long as possible, but for sure 9:30 will come. Vi had me to make her a four egg omlette. But now it is time to go and we can't delay it.

As we pull down the hill from Skycastles my tears start to flow. As we turn left and I glance down the hill to Fisherman's beach they flow more. I am blinded and can barely make out Ms. Viola's roots room, and Dolphin Cove, and then out of Ochii. I feel like someone is ripping my heart out.

It is a long long way down the road before I gain my composure, and I do not remember anyone talking in the van at all.

When we get to Falmouth we stop at Tony's Mom's place and get some of the best brown the best brown stew chicken I have ever tasted, and her caliloo was the best as well.

You know eventually you do reach Mobay. We drop Vi off at her hotel as she has extended. We then take the girls to the airport. I try to make this quick because I can't stand it. They hug me and I jump back in the van to continue on to Negril.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I could really relate to your visit to 9 Miles. The first time I went there, I was totally expecting to have a spiritual experience/infusion..and it didn't come then...lo and behold...3 weeks later I'm at home watching a video about Bob and the tears just started coming...pouring down...for no reason..that is when I had the spiritual experience. It comes when Jah decides the time is right.

p.s. what was the name of the villa..place sounds fantastic.

We go back to Vi's hotel to drop off her luggage. I try to make this one quick as well, as how much heartbreak can a person take?


With that being done, Marshall and I head to Negril. I am so worn out from all this emotion that I fall asleep, but hope that I will not miss checking on Angie's little house that juts out into the ocean. I recently told her that it is pictured in the openine scenes of Cool Runnings. It is still standing...imagine...all of Ivan, and it is still there!!!!

When we reach Negril I go straight to Whistling Bird, my home for the next few days. I meet Andrea and she shows me a couple of rooms and lets me take my pick. I pick this little one bedroom one and we have to wait for it to be cleaned. What better place than to wait at the bar. I am sitting there are Marshall is sitting there like we are at a funeral. He is hoovering near me. He thinks that I am not happy with the Bird and offers to take me elsewhere.

I tell him no, that I think it is charming, and i don't want to leave. I guess he just doesn't understand that I have just left my girls and I am sad.

I want to step out on the beach, maybe that will help, Marshall stands by a tree.

I swear I take one ONE ONE step on to the seven mile beach and I hear a sream MARILYN!!!!!!

I look and three sisters are coming toward me. I hear one of them say "She has no idea who we are, but I know who she is."

She's right, I don't know them. I walk toward them and one of them starts talking.
Girls this is Marilyn from Jamaicans.com and you don't knw me but my board name is ____ and I read all of your reports for the last three years. You won't know me because I have NEVER posted, but I know YOU. You have been such an insipiration to me in my travels and I love your writing. You are such a neat person on and on and on."

Marshall is standing there smiling like he is my agent or something. This really got to me. I always know there are people out there that you never see, but it is not the praise that was so important, it was that this connection allowed me to meet one of my angels, and it was not the lady talking. One of her friends was staying until Saturday, and that will be significant in my story later. I didn't know it right then, but I had just met a life long friend.

I hear another squeal Marilyn!!!!!, It is Laurel. Oh how pretty she is. Slammin hair, perfect skin, flawless makeup, and one of the brigthest spirits I have ever met, it just glows and shows through.

I turn to Marshall. You feel ok leaving me now? and he does.
