The Meeting
I go up to the front desk to greet him. Let me tell that it wasn’t love at first sight for either of us. I am a big gurl and if your aren’t into plus size women-well then I’m not your cup of tea. When I saw his picture I wasn’t moved, but I told him that I only asked for it to make sure that I wasn’t agreeing to hang out with Shabba Ranks. What he looked like wasn’t important because I am just going to have a friend who lives in Jamaica. We go back to the dark room and just sit there and go hmmmmm. Long silence. Finally the conversation starts. How was your trip? How was the bus ride down here? So this is the first time that both of us have been to Ochi? The maid soon comes by and tells us that the new room is ready. I’m so happy he was there with his 6’4 self because he helped carry my heavy suitcase up those 2 fights of stairs. When we got inside we turned on the TV and I asked him if he wanted to walk around. No he was content to watch the boob tube. Ok-to each his own. I found the number to Coconuts Café and had them deliver us dinner. After eating I decided I was going to bed. I told him that he could sleep on one of the couches in the living room. When I got into the room and into my PJs I started to freak out. I’m really not feeling this guy and I want him to go home. I’m trying to figure out how to let him down nicely. Oh-I know how. I’ll make it my fault.

The Water At Night

The next day I wake up around 6:00 am(no surprise I probably went to bed at 9:00.) I take a shot of the ocean when the sun is coming up.


From what I remember when I randomly would wake up at night was that the TV stayed on in the living room all night long. When I come out wraped in my beach wrap(left my robe at home and only had-hmmm-cute PJs) Marlon is still asleep. When he wakes up at 7:00 I am dressed and ready to explore. I ask him how late he stayed up and he said till 3:00. Dang. After he washed up we had the TALK. I told him that we were too much of opposites and that I didn’t want him to do anything that he felt uncomfortable with. I drink-He doesn’t. I go out to clubs-He doesn’t. I love to dance-He doesn’t dance at all. I told him that he seemed like a very nice person and that we would only be friends. He took it pretty well. On Wednesday me and Tia are planning on going to Nine Mile and Dolphin Cove with Chef. Marlon said that he wanted to go. I told him how much it would cost and asked if him if he still wanted to go. He said yes.

Okay...the 6AM pic is making me very homesick. I love getting up early in the morning(or staying up from the night before)and watch Ochi wake up. I am loving the report..keep it coming.

I am so ready for this report and the pictures are making me want to go back right now. Don't worry about requesting a different room because I did the same thing. Had to actually wait 2 days for the room I wanted. Do you remember the room number you were in? Now come with more I am so excited to read this report. I know it was well worth the wait. Were they still banging away working on remodeling the restaurant?

Thanks Jamaicaboo and thanks Dave I loved reading your report. I wish the photos from the plane are as clear as are on my computer. Seeing the mountains had me jumping in my seat. Seeing the mountains reminded me of Trinidad, especially later when I went into the bush.

PLV I was in room 62. I checked out all the rooms in that building and they were all nice. Yeah my room was to the right of the Restaurant so they were still working on it. I honestly didn't notice the noise but my friend Tia did. Ohh and this trip was well worth the wait.

Fisherman’s Beach (Sunday)
From many of the trip reports I have heard about eating breakfast at Fisherman’s Beach. I told Marlon that we could get food from the beach, but I’m not sure where on the beach. As we are leaving the Hotel I see another employee walking by. Hmm he is fine, tall and has the prettiest, darkest skin that I have ever seen. He says his name is Chris. I see him checking me out so I ask him where can we go on the beach to get breakfast. He tells us the directions, but I’m too busy drooling behind my shades that I don’t really hear what he says. Marlon sees that something is happening and starts to put his arm around me, but quickly removes it. Thank goodness. We walk in the wrong direction and end up at the pier. That’s cool. Some other Jamaican people are on the rocks and Marlon talks to them about the Lotto. It is up to 120 million(I think someone won it this week when it reached 140) I’m getting excited because my ears have finally opened up and I can understand at least most of the patois.



We finally reach the beach and I see the area where people bathe and wash. I was careful not to take pictures of this area while people were over there. You don’t want to be disrespectful.





I see that everyone is surrounding this one building, so I figure that this must be the place. I ordered ackee and saltfish, callallo, boiled green bananas, yams and fried dumplings.



I was really feeling this area because this felt like what Jamaica must be. When I think of whatever Jamaica is I think it must be this. I often felt while I was in the hotel that this is not Jamaica. And it isn’t. Jamaica is out in the streets at the fruit stalls. Jamaica is down buy the beach where you can buy some grouper. Jamaica is leaving Amnesia at 2 in the morning and getting the best chicken that I have every tasted off of home made grills. Jamaica is not on the resort.

We got the food and some drinks and go back to the apartment. I was getting some male attention and thought that we shouldn’t eat here. Don’t start nothing-won’t be nothing. Soon the food was finished and Marlon was on his way back home. Let me tell you that the food was awesome. That was the first time I had ackee and I was in luv. We talked about him coming back Tuesday night so that he could leave with us on Wednesday morning to go see Bob :love: :love: .
