Re: OchoRios - My First (And Definitely Not My Last) Trip To Jamaica
Amnesia
I walk a couple of steps after Tony leaves and an old man attaches himself to my hip. He’s trying to convince me to let him come back to my place. Blah, Blah, Blah. What don’t you understand about no. I could be your kid. I hear my name being called and I look up and its Ben. He is going by on his bike. I give him the black man hug-grasp one hand in the front and pound the person on the back with the other hand. We talk for a sec and I head back down the street with the old man still on my tail. I finally shake him loose as I get to Margaritaville. I turn the corner and walk to Fisherman’s. Now I have someone following me in a car. Ok-I guess I should be flattered, but stop it already. I can’t wait to get to the gate because no more issues. I still haven’t seen Chris.
I get upstairs and Tia tells me that we will meet the boys at the 2nd Mother’s up by the clocktower at 12:00. I tell her that I ran into Ian, Tony and Ben. We talk about Chris’ absence. We figure that I must have scared him off by coming on too strong or maybe it’s because I am a guest here. Since we both need to shower and get ready we called the boys and told them that we would meet them at 12:30. Me and Tia walk down to the Island Shopping Center and find a taxi. The driver takes us up to Mother’s and we don’t see the guys. We circle the area a couple of times and find them by the clock tower. We pull up in the parking lot across the street from Amnesia. Ian takes my hand and we walk up the steps. He tells me that I don’t have to pay because its ladies night. I lead the way up to the outside deck. He leads us over to the far right side because there is a breeze there. The dancehall is pumping and Ian is a great dancer. I’m people watching wondering how many people here are tourist and do we stick out of the crowd. The selector ask all the tourists to raise their hands and I’m surprised because I assumed many of these people were locals. We are dancing to the music and T asks if I need anything to drink. I say no and Ian asks for water. T comes back with the water and he and Tia say they are going to check out the first floor.
Where Are We Going?
Me and Ian are alone standing up against the railing enjoying the breeze. He asks me if I want to go for a walk and I say sure. We walk all the way down the winding steps and out to the front of Amnesia. Man I wish I could take my shoes off. We start to walk up the street. When he said a walk I though he meant lets go outside. We are walking down the street and I pull my hand back and ask where are we going? He said you’ll see. We go a little further and I was like-where are we going? He said remember when you asked if you could go the beach at night. Yeah I did remember asking that. That was one of the things that disappointed me the most about using a private beach. It was closed by 5:00. Chris had told me that I could go over to Margaritaville to be on the beach at night. Well back to Ian-He said that I’m taking you to the beach. I said OK. As we approach this hotel I start to get worried. I pull my hand back and said look, I’m not having sex on the beach. Ian says OK. I said-no I’m not having sex on the beach and I will fight you. He burst out laughing. He told me to chill out and come on. I started to ask if he did this every weekend with the foreigners. So we start arguing in the middle of the street.
