I do think there is a double standard, but I also think it was because of the person that the post was about. People already had issues with this person and the photo was a nail in the coffin.

I also think that there was a difference because I have read a trip report by (I hate saying this person) but this person that is all about their "relationships" with women around the island. And that was the just of the report. The report didn't offend me because that is what some people come to JA for(or maybe hoping for).(And to be clear, I'm not saying that I know what-This Person-came to JA for-that's their business) I came for BOB, the sun, the beach, and to just be in the Carribean(I still miss Guyana). Honestly the attention for the men was a much needed bonus that I didn't really expect or was looking for.

Thanks Ros-I gotta leave work now-so I'll see more posts tonight.

I'm not trying to apologize for my report, but I don't want to be disrespectful to the people that live in JA. I learned so much about myself while I was there and appreciated all experiences-good and bad-that I had while I was there. I know that the Jamaicans are real people-who exist outside of my enjoyment and entertainment. I put that comment that T-made about the women thinking that they brought him and a boat ride on purpose. When I was reading the debate made re: this subject I could understand how people were feeling. As an African-American who attended prodominatly White school I often felt like I was supposed to be(or better yet they thought I was supposed to be)the monkey in the cage-dancing for their enjoyment.

OK-but I digress. Napi-keep your comments. I'm enjoying the conversation. You were just saying what you feel. I'll add more later. I gotta get the little mess.
