Re: Ocho Rios - Windsor Girls Home/Loose Ends Villa Trip Report
This trip was meant to be! I would love to be able to say that I took tons of pictures, however this is not to be the case. I have also come to accept that this will never be the case for me. As a chronic daydreamer and a burdensomely reflective being, I am always caught between dreaming my days away and wishing I had behaved, seen, said, thought or looked differently. In essence, I have difficulty remaining in the moment, which makes picture taking haphazard at best. I have decided against purchasing a digital camera for this very reason and opt to carry those little disposable one. Wait; let me rewind just a bit to bring you up to date on this trip and why it means so much to me.
All my Girlfriends decided to visit Jamaica for Thanksgiving. I knew that I could not afford another trip this year and although saddened that they would be there without me, I settled into a comfortable funk that was to be my existence until they returned. After many nights of talking to Dr. O on the phone, I guess she just could not bear to hear me whine any longer and decided to stage the best surprise and present that I have ever received in my 50 years of living. She secured the Villa of my dreams, close to family and friends and invited me to stay with her as a gift for my 50th birthday.
I did not know for quite a while that this would be our place but through a maze of phone calls and misunderstandings, she had to tell me about my surprise Villa. Needless to say, I cried for days, announced it to anyone that would talk to me long enough and thanked her endlessly. My next mission was to call Delta and get the best possible fare. To my surprise, they had a reward seat available and I placed it on hold until I could transfer miles from American Express. The day arrived when I was to secure my airline seat and I kept reminding myself that day to go ahead and do this. Yes, you guessed it…I forgot! The next morning I called and after much slapping of hands, I promised never to do this again and Delta confirmed my seat yet again.
My blessings do not stop here my friends. Treats called to offer me a 5-night package, All Inclusive at Sandals Dunns River free of charge. She has just had a first child and returning to Jamaican from Germany at this time was not possible. All she wanted from me was for me to go and have a wonderful time. I told her about my gift from Dr. O, but she said to try and use it anyway. Treats, I must email you with what I was able to do later. Your generosity overwhelms me as well and I thank you so much for thinking of me.
