(((SH)))) sigh and triple sigh... for many things.. your ability to be so expressive.. and take a simple journey and make it so colorful.. its actually the type of journey that speaks volumes....

but the above recant... and there you have it.. what lingers in the recesses of my soul.. each and every trip.. and especially as i see people post these lovely photos that every one ohhhhs and ahhhhhs over ... this idealic Jamaica.....

but inside that outer vision.. deep within the core and the recesses of all that makes Jamaica... is a hurtful place.. with many memories for those living there.. of pain.. horror.. desperation.. poverty..anguish.. corruption...... and a story like you remember gives authenticity to the myriad of all that makes jamaica so complex... and yet for me.. so loved and adored......................

i just wish that i could ever reconcile the evils.... but one can never forget them.. and only hope.. pray... wish.. that at some point in time.. somehow. someway .. some of this will end..

SH..not bored yet. Instead sitting here with gooseflesh and some seriously deep thoughts.

Mama is remarkable. Keep your promise to try and call once a month..you are so blessed to have her..I have a similar "Mama"..90 this August with the grace of god. Always remind myself to make time for her as when time is finished..its finished and you can't get it back. Don't want to ever take the blessing of her for granted which so often I do...

SH - this is a wonderful report - i have tears in my eyes to experience your very sensitive writing - so rare sometimes with men

i have the single mother responsibility of raising a manchild - now 8 - i wish there were more men like you as role models - jamaica offers up many good role models and that is part of the reason i continue to make my journeys there and take my son.

Great report. Its good to have a trip report, and such a great one, from a Jamaican perspective because the descriptions are more vivid and historic which awakes wonderful memories of home.

Oh My - Soulie ... Please do stretch out your days as long as possible and continue embelish your journey via tapping into the archives of your life lived so far.

Nina - as always ... so very well said. I probably come across as one of the worst offenders of the 'ditzy ooohs and ahhhhs' as everyone posts their photos of their 'idealic Jamaica'. Truth be told - my baby child at 10 might have witnessed the murder of the unfortunate fellow that attempted to 'tief mi handbag' - "the neighborhood" rallied round and in their passion to take care of business, would have beat the life from him had I not thrown myself into their mix made them stop ... poverty & anguish drove this young man to cross my path in his desperate attempt to provide for himself - and possibly his own Mom and Mamma - so we have experienced a bit of that 'myriad that makes Jamaica so complex' (if only for a brief moment in time). Thru that experience, we have found ourselves in the company of one of the good role models Seveen refers to - as I too, am a single mother raising up a manchild on my own - and I depend on him to influence my son thru his ethics and integrity gained thru living the complex Jamaican life - does any of this make sense, or am I just rambling??

Soulie - do you climb the coconut trees straight up? I was hoping for a photo of that!

Love the photo of mamma - always be generous with your hugs!! She nuh tink ya wutless - I am sure of that!

Today has been one of the most annoying days I've had in a while! :verymad: Since I have a couple of hours to try and wind down, let's get on with day 4...
