Magic please, that road is not ready for use. Landslides have ruined a part of the road and there is no thoroughfare. The drive is very good as you have insinuated. But only when the road is fixed.
Morgan`s Harbour Hotel has nice cuisine too and it is a comfortable hotel on the harbour.

Hello Ramona,

If your first night in Jamaica is a Fri, Sat or Sunday,
the hotel will tell you that they are full.

I cannot believe that the hotel is fully booked this far in advance.
Have your PA hotel make the booking for you on that one night.
As another Jamaican Resort, they will have more influence

I guess that too many people are reading this forum and taking notice of our
recomendations to go and have dinner at Glorias, after or before a long flight.

On the Trip Advisor forum, I suggested Glorias to a man from the UK
who had a 4 hour layover in Kingston and did not know what to do.

After the trip, he posted a report about the most fantastic food and ambiance
that he found at this place that he would never have even imagined existed.
He raved about everything for a whole month and kept the thread alive.

Ramona, please do not worry. We will get you a room for the night.

But not at any conventional type or style hotel.
One that represents the Jamaican architecture.

Like this resort so that the following morning
your journey will only take you 2 more hours.

Great sites and options Curtis. You always have the informnation almost amyone would find priceless.

Why not book in advance to Morgan`s Harbour Hotel?
Time is on Ramona`s side.
Ramona, the view from Morgan`s Harbour allows you to see Kingston sea front and to see the magnificent mountain ranges in the back ground.

Ramona, other safe and laid back are the Altamont Court, Hotel 4 Seasons and the Knutsford Court. These are fine to stop over in Kingston proper.

However Morgan`s Harbour is on the sea, and its location allows you to start your drive over to Port Antonio via south coat road through Morant Bay, Duckenfield, Hector`s River, Manchioneal, Long Bay.
Long Bay is a place to go. A lovely beach. Manchioneal is near to the Reich Falls.
Also make note on the Winifred`s Beach in Fairy Hill.

Check all the sites by Curtis on hotels in Portland and in the Port Antonio vicinity like out in the San San area where you`ll find Moon San Villa, Goblin Hill, Fern Hill, Jamaica Crest and many more.

Morgan's Harbour & Four Seasons are already booked as well as the Knutsford Court Hotel and Courtley Hotel & Suites, Strawberry Hill and Christar Villas. The only options the search engines are turning up are the Hilton and Pegasus. I can't imagine my luck improving as time goes on, or should I just wait and see what transpires over the next few months?

I've also sent inquiries to Altamont and Terra Nova Hotels. I didn't think it would be that hard to find something so far in advance!

Hello Ramona,

I think that you are trying to book too far in
advance and this is why you are drawing a blank.

Pegasus is a very nice option but I wanted you to stay
at somewhere more blending in with the Caribbean lifestyle.

Otherwise, you could be in any high rise building anywhere in the world.

Please let us keep our promise.
We will get you a nice place that the whole group
will throughly enjoy and boast about later on.

Port Antonio is a great place. Stayed at Frenchmans Cove in February. I highly recommend Frenchmans Cove and the Raft Trip down the Rio Grande. There are big problems with the roads in the Blue Mountains. It will be a long time before the roads are repaired. I flew into P.A. on a charter out of Montego Bay. I then flew from P.A. direct to Negril. Three to four nights in P.A. is good for me. Beauty abounds and peaceful, quiet, relaxing are impossible to avoid.

I recommend PA to anyone who wants to discover the unspoiled and un"super" resort parts of jamaica. It is out of the way and that is what makes it so beautiful. If you happen to want a great guest house to stay in PM me.

That's exactly what we're looking for. The 'real' Jamaica with no touristy influences. Peace, tranquility and beauty are on our agenda. Thank you for the info, now I know for certain that we made the right choice!
