Day 2~
Oh boy. Am I sick! I don't know which 'end' it's going to come out! My stomach hurt so bad, I couldn't stand up straight. What am I going to do? I can't do anything far from the bathroom...

I go out into the living room just long enough to tell everyone, "see ya later, I'm going back to bed!"

Phil took the kids for a nice long walk while I tried to sleep. They went as long as they could before the heat got to them. They came back and headed for the beach.

What is wrong with me? Why am I SO sick?
Well, Sally came to me and said, "some people just can't eat Calaloo". OH!! OK, now I get it. I had 3 servings last night (it was so yummy).
I guess I am "one of those people". Darn.
I spent almost all day in my room (remember my gorgeous view?).


It helped.

Later in the afternoon, after some Ginger Beer, I felt well enough to go to the store down the road. I snapped just a few pics:

We walked back seaside and came across some kids playing in the water, having the MOST fun, and a Mom sitting at the shore. I asked her if she'd mind if I took a few pictures, she smiled and said, "Please!" i also asked if she'd be there for a little while b/c I brought my photo printer, and I wanted to give her the printed pictures. She also said it was ok to post these on the internet (YIPPEE!! )





I wished that I had felt better. I wanted to spend more time with this lady - she was so sweet...

Back home...






Tonight, dinner was fish, potatoes, pumpkin, and beautiful green beans..
I didn't know I liked fish SO much. I'm not sure what kind it was, but it was SO moist and tender. So good!

Day3~

We got up early and went to the beach (of course). I was feeling MUCH better today. still not feeling hungry, but not feeling sick anymore either.
I took my camera down to the gazebo, and with my first picture of the day - my camera malfunctions! It's turning itself on and off, on and off. Zooming in and out. I finally had to remove the batteries. After playing with it for quite some time, we put the damn thing away - it's hopeless, at least until we get home.
So sorry - no pictures today.

We 'rented' our friend's car to do some shopping. We headed into Black River. How fun this is! I love it. I wish we could just take our time and see everything, but the kids are waiting, and we're starting to get hungry again.
So we head back, making quick stops along the way.

After lunch, and back in the gazebo. My daughter Alicia, and my friend Judy are sleeping in the hammocks, and Phil and I are just relaxing and having a Stripe. Jeremy and Chad (our friend) are swimming. We are ALL in our swimwear. We hear some noise over behind us, and are surprised to see a freaking Tour Bus parked in the driveway. People pouring out. At least 10-12 people, cameras around their necks, heading down to our hut!! We renting this whole place, what the heck is going on?!?! We didn't even have time to put on a cover-up when these people are in our faces, snapping pictures of the surroundings, AND us, and asking us questions like, "where are y'all from?", and "Do you like it here?" Well, we DID!!

I couldn't believe it! We were so angry. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] They didn't stay long, but the intrusion was upsetting. I don't want strangers looking at my teenage, bikini'd daughter while she sleeps! (I made sure none of them took her picture) And if Judy had been awake, she would have been livid!

As they walked back to their bus, Sally came apologizing up and down. This was "sprung" on her at the last second - minutes before they arrived at the gate. We KNEW it was out of Sally's control, so we told her not to worry about it. She told us that she did NOT let them tour our house (that would have been worse - with all our stuff in there). We found out later that they were travel agents from the States...

Later in the afternoon, I decided to play in the water with the kids. Man, it was SO fun. That really is the best beach! We brought a few inflatable floats, and they were great for wave riding.
I suddenly felt a burning sensation on the inside of my upper leg (really close to that)!
It really burned! I got out of the water, and couldn't really see it very well (cuz of it's location) so I had my husband look. He siad it looked like white welts in a circle shape about an inch and a half in diameter. OUCH!
After only about 5 minutes, the burning, stinging sensation went away, and the bumps went away. I was back in the water! A little while later, Jeremy started complaining of a burning on his back. I look and sure enough, it looks just like what Phil described on me! Jeremy was a trooper and got right back in the water. he said it didn't hurt for very long (luckily).
We asked Sally about it later (even though I had a really good idea what it was). Sure enough - jellyfish! Ice jellyfish, she called them. She said they're very small, and not there all the time. She doesn't swim, and said she didn't really know how to tell when they're there, or not there. so, we came up with our own idea - and it seemed to work. We decided that if the Pelicans were feeding close to the shore, stay out of the water. If they're this close, there's fish for them to eat. Jellyfish eat fish, too. So it made sense to us that jellyfish would follow food, just as the Pelicans do. Jeremy got stung a total of 5 times during the whole two weeks. He learned that staying in the salt water helped the sting go away faster. Sally told us vinegar helps, too.

Dinner tonight was curried shrimp, rice and peas, salad, fruit (I forget what else)...

Luckily, I let my daughter bring my old camera, so I was able to get a FEW pics with it. Unfortunately, she accidentally erased all the pics on one of the memory cards.


Anybody else dig bugs?



It's hard to see, but this guy's tongue was about 4 inches long!



I know! - it's not a bug...
but it WAS cool!
You should have seen everyone run when I picked up frogs!

Do you know I have NEVER SEEN a frog there .... I dance to the tree frog song all night long - but I have never seen one.

Did you see all the FLAT ones on the road in TB?

We tried to play frisbee with a couple of really flat, dry ones!

Patty,

I love the pictures. Thanks for sharing them. The villa looks sooo nice, as does the beach.

I can relate to the feeling that the kids have been replaced by someone elses. I felt that way when I was there this spring. The kids were so pleasant.

Also love the story about the frogs. We walked on the road quite a bit and always noticed the flattened frogs. But, no way was I picking up one of those nasty things. Not big on them when they are alive, definitely not when they are dead. My daughter just tormented me by sneaking up and jumping out at me with the live frogs.
