Thanks 3LB, I know what you mean. I was supposed to be doing something else all weekend besides this but I got so wrapped up in it, I didn't get much else done!

I hope to be able to continue soon, it's all ready to go but the photos!!

Usually we did our beach wandering mid to late afternoon but if you want to see what happens on the beach in a fishermans world, mid morning is a good time, when they come in with the days catch. There's a bustle of activity...

Walking down the road through town towards the beach you might see a man carrying a boat motor over his shoulder that's just about as big as he is, but you never get a sense that it's anything heavy.




Waiting for the boats to start coming in with thier catches would be ladies who had come down on busses from Mandeville. The ride back to Mandeville on the bus must have been pretty pungent, and not something on the " to do " list of someone like me who gets sick to their stomach just getting a whiff of fish, so that wouldn't be a travel option for me.




The shoppers come with thier own carrying bags and pails in hand...

Most of what I have left for this portion of that trip is a few random photos we haven't seen yet. After mentioning that I wished I had photos of the old rickety bridge from the first night, I remembered taking some so I searched high and low and found them...

They don't build em like this anymore...

and from down a ways towards Brownies...





Traversing the bridge was a trip in itself, but once I saw the best spot to cross the river, that's what we did for the most part; the water was only calf deep to knee deep...

Little Ochie beach boat tables..



We explored our surroundings for at least a little while every day. This tree was on the road from Alligator Pond to Milk River bath. I couldnt believe trees could grow out of the rocks like that!







The beautiful baby is probably going on 10 now!



My love of floating did leave to a little more canoe time, sometimes we'd just hang in the deep spot there by the three shops and swim from the canoes; yes, I used to be able to climb into a canoe in the river without dumping it!

Great report IM... you know, things are changing so fast in Jamaica it's amazing.
5 years ago I made my first trip. Just calling Jamaica was iffy... expensive with crappy connections.
NOW everyone's got cell phones, sometimes 2 or 3. Most of my friends have vehicles. Decent ones at that.

Looking at how remote Little Ochi was, now everyone I know has gone there. Yaadies here in the states, originally from town, say they never miss L.O. on a trip home.

I'm going to make a point of checking out Alligator pond more next trip.

Q.K, I know what you mean about the changes. I was to Little Ochie for my birthday in 2001 or 2002, and it was so big and busy and they even had bathrooms! But, it was all good. I am looking forward to getting back too, meanwhile, please take some photos next time for me will ya?
