The Wedding Report

This won't be anything like my first report. For that loooong sinting, I actually took notes each night and then shaped them into what turned out to be a very lengthy and rather boring discussion. This report, on the other hand, is being compiled several weeks after the actual trip and with the big day still very clear in my mind, but the other days all sort of a blur. You asked though, so here I am to comply!

The other thing you'll notice is a lack of photos leading up to the big day. For whatever reason we just didn't break out the cameras much the first three days. Tons of wedding pics though - so that's the only solace. With all of the above in mind, shall we begin!?

It's approaching midnight on the evening of Jan 10th, and we are scrambling to get our things packed for a 0600 flight out of Dulles International the next morning. I tell Napi that she should probably try and get to bed soon so at least one of us will hear the alarm, set to go off at 0400 the next morning. I figure we need to leave the house no later than 0430 to make it out to Dulles with sufficient time to check-in, clear security and make our flight, and midnight finds us half-way packed with plenty to go.

"Can't forget the tux; don't forget your dress." "What about your Mom's stuff?" "We'll have to mail it to her when we get back." "Should we pack the bowl in our checked luggage?" "No, let's put it in our carry-on where we can keep an eye on it." "None of my clothes fit me anymore!" "Well, you are pregnant...we'll check the stores in the airport in Miami." "Don't forget my ring; I've got your band in my carry-on." And on it goes until finally we're in the bed. The clock has long passed 0200 hours.

Love the beginning of your report!! I can so relate to that last minute packing! My husband is so organized and always has his bags packed and lined up by the front door days before our scheduled departure. Not me!! I am the one staying up all night and still throwing things in the bag right before walking out the door on the way to the airport! Each time, I tell myself I will pack ahead of time, but it never happens! Maybe next time...lol..

Well, where I thought that all I'd have to do was come home from work and throw some summer clothes into a bag, I quickly discovered it wouldn't be that easy. NOTHING I had in my 'summer clothes bin' fit. I tried on shirt after shirt, shorts, pants, even my fat clothes didn't fit. It was already midnight, so going shopping was out of the question, plus, what store would have summer clothes in January? I fell into a state of panic mixed w/depression mixed w/anxiety mixed w/dispair...(feel free to add in any other dark, dank emotions; I'm sure they apply). Each time I tried to get a pair of pants or shorts up my thighs, they got stuck somewhere right above the knee. And I never realized how many belly shirts I had. I think that for the last few years, that's all the designers have been making. All of my shirts stopped about 1 1/2 inches above my navel. It didn't help that SH stared at me, shook his head, and laughed as I tried on outfit after outfit. I knew he wasn't doing it in a mocking way. I even had to laugh at myself. The final compromise was to throw about 5 skirts, 2 sundresses, a few tank tops, my bikini (yes, I refuse to give that up) and some flip flops in the suitcase. I'd just have to look like a raggamuffin on this vacation!

After all that, I was exhausted. Just the emotional stress of realizing that NONE of my clothes fit took a toll on me. I figured whatever I didn't have, I didn't need, so I zipped the suitcase and got in the bed. But dang I was heated about the wardrobe!
