Love the photoz of the Yard Hound sleepin under PoohPah's bench ~

For the LONGEST time I had planned and planned what I would have Dougie blend up for me - could NOT wait to meet him. I had seen his photo and bar a few times in travel magazines.... I pulled tropical cocktails from Caribbean Life magazines for a couple years - finally we made our way to Treasure Beach, and to Jakes ... and he was on some time off .... Sunday, July 9....Italy v. France......The World Cup Final!!!!!

Y'all need to understand that I'm one of the handful of Americans who genuinely enjoy this tournament....for starters, I love the game itself....add to that the opportunity to see some of the most talented players in the world....but more than all that is the knowledge that I'm watching the same game as people all over the planet...Americans don't seem to comprehend the significance of events like this....of course, most Americans remain blissfully ignorant of anything that happens beyond their shores....don't get me wrong, tho......I usually have no problems with Americans.....hey, some of my best friends are American [img]/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] ....

We weren't getting great reception in the cottage, so we went to the bar at GS.....they were having a little trouble with their TV, so we walked to a bar across the road.....hmmmmm....their TV wasn't working either.....as gametime got closer, we ran in and out of bars and restaurants along the road....none of them had reception!!! by the time we reached Jack Sprat's, we started hearing rumors....

"Cable's out."

"Cable's out in TB."

"Cable's out all over the island."

and then we heard the most disturbing of rumors:

"Cable's out all over the island, and the American government is responsible!"

We later found out that the last rumor was unfounded, as most of the island was able to watch the match....but, sadly, nobody in TB saw the Final that day.... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

"Topmon" owns a little bar across the road from GS....he graciously offered to give us a ride to the concert....

We eventually made it to the festival site, parked the car and wandered off to the show.....

I'm gonna apologize now for not getting pics of our walk to the gates...I think I went into sensory overload......so just imagine a narrow country lane, with food vendors lined up on either side....thousands of people crowding the lane....just an intoxicating mix of sights, sounds, smells....all under the light of a full moon....

After we paid our way thru the gates, Topmon whispered "Follow me..."....and off we went....

Down a path, round a corner, pardon me, 'scuse me, coming thru, until he pulled aside a piece of blue tarp....where we found ourselves at the bottom of the steps to the stage!!!! that's where we spent the rest of the nite.... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]
