we arrived in jamaica at 4:45PM - i think that's the latest i've ever arrived there

jutanegril charged us $22.50 to take us to negril - they recently were awarded the Sandals contract - instead of Sandals having their own buses they used juta - the buses are much nicer now - but the service is slower - 'cause they are not going to negril - without their Sandals folks

we had one Sandals couple riding with us - their first trip to negril - to celebrate their 10th anniversary

it was pitch black outside by the time we got going so i couldn't do my usual tour

but after they started asking about "the natives" my conversation became yes - no

we have stayed here several times
and we arrive - Norm, Susan, Ingrid and Denton are waiting in the lobby

i got my favorite room - close to the bar
and proceeded to catch up

the night ended early and i anticipated seeing everything the next day

when i went to bed - i remember hearing every tree frog - the music in the distance - low conversations - and hugged myself 'cause i was in jamaica - with my belly full of Kingfish and vegetable stir fry

on Christmas Morning one of my most favorite people in the whole world turned up - Laurel

she got to see me in my PJs (again) and my puffy face

she was headed to Whistling Bird to hang out for the day

we've been promising each other a day on the beach and my gift was to finally realize that

i was up and swimsuited in minutes (no shower needed to go to the beach)

abu started his jamaica eating with some sugar cane - then progressed to curry goat, oxtails, lobster, conch, garlic potatoes and his beloved french toast - every morning [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img] - he barely eats at home

that evening - i called my sistren Shereth - and we all headed to Sweet Spice to eat dinner - her son is the same age as abu - so that was a hoot

and Sweet Spice was sweet as usual

after dinner we headed to her place where i got to visit with Accompong for a bit

and check out the guest house they are putting together

Shereth's creativity has her front garden full of corn, flowers and every bush herb you can think of - pretty pretty - and oh so useful

this trip i was a tourist all the way - stayed at the hotel - ate plenty of food - drank too much appleton, with ice and lime

this evening i was in my room - when i heard a commotion right outside my door and then

and it's our England Girl and her niece - also abu's age

and then i squealed with delight so loud - i'm sure the other guests thought someone had been hurt - in walks LibbyT - my first ever meeting with her - and totally unexpected

we chat and chat like old friends - catching up - just looking at each other - and hugging - it's a family reunion

the next day we head to Coconuts - abu has met some new friends that hang out there - okay with me - i like their food very much

and of course the obligatory - BURY me

today is Laurel's last day - and weeping is what she wants to do - but abu and i head down to the Bird to "distract" her

we're all set up in chairs, drinking, eating, kids playing in the ocean and knock knock who appears from nowhere - grinning - the illustrious Smith744
