Sammy, I thought we would never get there last November when they made us layover and connect in

Connecting in ATL (Nov 06), we left L.A. at 11pm and got to Jamaica at noon the next day. We were thankful though, when they cancelled the flight, they wanted us to fly out on Wednesday night instead of Monday.
I do what ever I can to get that non-stop flight on Air Jamaica.

Where's the shuttle

I called for the Seastar shuttle and we gathered in my room while waiting. It seemed to take longer than expected to hear from anyone, so we walked outside. No shuttle in the parking lot, no one waiting in the driveway. The security guard told us that a shuttle came but that it left a short while ago [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img].

Choclit and Sweetpotatopi waited outside while I ran back up to call someone else [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70459-idea.gif[/img].

I knew Sweetpotatopi would cut me a harsh look when our new driver arrived. We’d used him before but their initial interaction was tepid at best [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70392-silly.gif[/img]. But, he was reliable, dependable, and he knew us [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70409-waytogo.gif[/img].

He arrived before I returned to the parking lot. She looked at me and shook her head after she figured out who he was and just laughed [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] Okay, she wasn’t mad, she just knew we were in for a night of laughs.

Twisting by the pool party

This was our first time going to Seastar. It was dark, dark, dark, and a very rocky road. I was ready for one of them to ask me if I knew where we were going, cause I wasn’t going to lie, I did not know [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70374-lipsrsealed.gif[/img]. I was glad we had a good vibe with our driver cause that road reminded me of those dark roads deep down in the south where you can’t see anything but the headlights from your car [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/dizzy.gif[/img].

I saw a sign that said Seastar so I figured I wasn’t in Michael Myers territory. We drove for about a minute more before we reached the driveway. I told our driver that we would let him know if we wanted to stay and to wait for us to come back. We walked in and the place was rather crowded. I guess we looked like fish out of water because Chris walked up to us and said “Have a seat”, oh okay, we obliged. I went back and told our driver that we would stay and Seastar would take us back.

Stomachs growling, we found our way to the buffet. The food was very good that night [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hungry.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hungry.gif[/img]. Escovitched fish, jerk chicken, rice & peas, callalou, brown stew chicken, and more. The price was $12. After dinner we pulled up a seat right in front of the entertainment [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yahoo.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img]

We stayed until a new group got up and sang the “my perfect woman has big____” song [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70361-embarassed.gif[/img].

I was the one of the last ones up the next morning. Choclit told me that Roe had arrived. I got dressed and met the ladies in the restaurant. Our first full day in Negril had begun and the morning sun coupled with meeting my new friend was a glorious welcome.

A bought lesson

The night before I told Roe to just catch JUTA to Negril when she arrived. Well, she did, but it wasn’t the inexpensive transportation that I had in mind.

“YOU PAID HOW MUCH” "Eighty dollars" she said. I nearly fainted , but I knew why she was charged that much. Each time we’ve traveled to Negril, I’ve prearranged our transportation and we’ve paid about $20.00 each. I’ve never had to book for private transfer because there’s rarely anyone using the same company that I use that’s on my flight. But, when she showed up asking for a ride, she was quoted $80.00. It was her first trip to Jamaica and Negril, so, a bought lesson, but one that she learned from, just chalk it up to a learning experience. Nonetheless, it was still enough to make one hot as fish grease
