Advice on Port Antonio

Greetings,

We live in negril but want to take a trip to Port Antonio in a few weeks. Need advice on romantic place to stay either in hills with a pool or by the water.

Planning to go to reich falls and blue lagoon.

Any suggestions?

Hotels I like in negril to compare to are Idle Awhile, banana shout, treehouse to get a sense on style.

Heard fishermans cove is nice anyone ever stay there?

Any help is appreciated

I stayed at Fisherman's Cove once and enjoyed it...even though we were there for 2 nights. They have a beautiful well kept area that overlooks the sea. I'd recommend it, even though it was roughly 5 years ago. If you're a local Jamaican, ask for the local rate.

Stayed at a lovely villa called Tranquility Villa...also in Port Antonio. Very beautiful place that sits on a hill overlooking the sea. Great view. Tranquility villa web site is... tranquility-villa dot com

Between the two, I'd say Fisherman's Cove will bring you closer to Idle Awhile in Negril.

As well as some amazing shots of places in Porty.
You will need a car to stay here and sometimes the
noise from the loud speakers in town will float up the hill.
No different from Negril noise level.

I love Port Antonio because it is Porty and not Negril.

This is one of our favorite places in Port Antonio. The Villa is set on top of the hill with the view of San San Beach. The back Lawn is just beautiful. I will try to post some pictures when I get it uploaded. With your stay you get a housekeeper/cook. You can even fax your menu ahead of time when you make your reservation. So when you arrive, everything is done for you. I suggest always calling the villa instead of making the reservation online. Because you can always get a better rate when you talk to a live person. The place is romantic and breathtaking.

Also a friend of mine owns CHATEAU en EXOTICA across from Goblin Hill Villas. Check out their website @ http://www.iwms.com. I haven't stayed their but its very romantic. It's a little pricey but if money is not a problem, this place is worth checking out.

I am looking for availability at Zion Country Cottages near Port Antonio. Do you know if there is much damage in Port Antonio. I have seen some really nice spots while I was searching for a place. Here is a list of some of the ones I really thought were romantic and affordable

The last time I was in Port Antonio (its been several years) Bonnie View was terrible. They had water problems and I couldn't get water for a shower. They have a great view but their facilities are run down. Roughing it is fun til you run out of water then it becomes a health concern. You may want to check out the facilities before you make a commitment to stay. I've learned the hard way. lol.

I have not heard of any major damages but I've been to Zion Country cottages. If you like roughing it and you want just the very basic and are adventurous, then Zion Country is the place to be. Don't forget to bring your own towels. They do serve breakfast and the chef there is OWEN. His a very good cook. The owner is Free-I, his dutch and very kind. He will definitely welcome you with open arms.
