here's a little on our on special guests:

Jeun'Espoir Jamaïque is a group of 15 teenagers from Orléans, Ontario, Canada. In March of 2003, during their scheduled school holiday, the youths ranging from ages 17 to19 traveled to the poverty-stricken areas of Kingston, Jamaica. They were accompanied by 5 adult missionaries who were using the experience to express their solidarity and concern for the needy of the Third World.

How long did you spend in Jamaica?

Eric: We spent about 8 days in Jamaica during our march break.

André: I have spent about 32 days through 4 trips.

Did you stay the in Kingston for the entire trip, or did you get to see the other parishes as well?

What do you feel is the one most important experience you took away when you left JA?

André: Basically, we go to help the poor in the ghettos of Kingston.

*A reminder: There are 3 of us here, to get a more specific answer, you can direct it to a certain person. Rachelle has not yet gone to Jamaica but is going next March. Eric was there last March and André is the project leader for the 5th time.

André: We got to see some of the other parishes on our way to Ocho Rios during a day trip.

In your opinion, what do you think are some of the obstacles facing young people in Jamaica who have completed at least secondary education?

Eric: I was surprised how happy everyone was yet they don't have nearly as many luxuries as we do. They seem to be truly happy.

André: It seems to me that most of the graduates I met wanted to get out of the country to get a job or a university education.
