Sandor, in our interview, you mentionned you came to Canada...'temporarily'... does that mean (after two years) you intend to leave? And were are you headed next?

First of all, having a site where people can go to identify the best Jamaican sites on the net is a great idea.

How did you come up with the idea for the site?

How long has it been operating?

How many categories do you have for sites?

It must really be tough to narrow the choice down to 5. How do you go about doing it?

How did you come up with the idea for the site?

Around 1998, as part of a degree programme that I was doing, I had to design and create a web page. At the time, there were quite a few Jamaican web sites on the Web, but no one place that linked to the best of what was online. So I decided that my project would be a web site that featured 'The Best of Jamaica Online'.

How long has it been operating?

Since November 1998

How many categories do you have for sites?

Currently 49. But as the need arises and more sites are created, I do create new categories. Originally it started out with less than ten.

It must really be tough to narrow the choice down to 5. How do you go about doing it?

There are five main criteria right now that are used to evaluate ech site - (1) Content (2) Layout (3) Color & Graphics (4) Load time / Speed (5) Usability & Effectiveness. Right now it is a bit subjective though, so I am working on something more quantitative and mathematical (basically a scoring system) that will produce an actual score for each site.
