how do u react to the title of 'Ms Lou's lady-in-waiting' so to speak.....set to take up where she left off


and how does one make it as a comedienne in Jamaica....for that matter , as a lady of the stage...what changes have u seen over the years in terms of earning possibilities etc....it would seem that people in the arts still have to have a fulltime profession and do the stage as a passion....or is that an erroneous view


how come someone of ur immeasurable talents not showing up in the few movies we see being made in the island...is this not an area u r interested in or what....

I had the pleasure of meeting Joan Hutchinson in Montego Bay this past April. I am a female. I took my teen daughter and her friend (first time visitor)to the Springfest concert at the Caribbean Beach Park in Montego Bay. The girls had a great time. When the concert ended around 2:30 a.m., we went to the gas station where all the taxis were, to meet our taxis that would take us back to Falmouth. We looked all over the place and could not find our driver. I tried getting other taxis but they were all full. Mind you, I have two teenagers and we are at a bus stop with hundreds of people trying to get a ride or a taxi. While waiting, the girls were excited to see Elephant Man pull up in his convertible red mercedes stuck in traffic like everyone else.. he was very kind enough when I told him that we were from Boston, Massachusetts and if the girls could get an autograph, he signed their hat, along with Wayne Marshall. While we are still waiting with everyone else and I am a nervous wreck, because I don't know how we are going to get to Trelwany Starfish in Falmouth. Again, I had my daughter, and somebody else pickney who is not even Jamaican out at street this time of night. I saw a really nice SUV pull up (one of few because there is some nice vehicles in Jamaica, we poor but we nuh poverty)... I heard a young man standing next to me say "there is the lady that is on tv all over the place, she is the top actress bout the place. When the vehicle stop by him (again stuck in traffic) I looked in and I saw this lady with a young man next to her and a young lady in the back seat, I said to her "Can I get a ride from you to anywhere, my taxi did not show up".. she asked me where I was going (mind you this was in Montego Bay).. I told her I was going to Falmouth .. Trelawny Starfish.. she said no problem, come in with the kids... THANK YOU GOD.... THIS WOMAN TOOK ME AND THE TWO KIDS TO TRELAWNY STARFISH HOTEL... At the end of the ride, I told her that I really appreciate it and asked what I could do to repay her, she said anytime she come to Boston... I CAN'T WAIT FOR HER TO COME TO BOSTON... THIS IS WHAT OLD TIME JAMAICA USE TO BE LIKE.. PEOPLE LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER.. WHERE IN AMERICA COULD THIS HAPPEN?

I won't mention the ride. one police "bway" come up to the van and start run him mouth... she handle him till mi start shake like a leaf... she tell him say him nuh have nuh manners and nuh know how to talk to decent people..


JOAN, YOU ARE ONE FABULOUS WOMAN AND I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU AGAIN...
