there are many people coming from t.o and ottawa as well.
we do not forsee problems, however, we are well prepared. we have hundreds of security personel on duty. ...........air tight security!
everyone including artists will subject to metal detectors.
as the theme is united against violence........we are hoping anybody who's got beef with someone...........take it up elswhere. it's gonna be a real peaceful week end

as for artists, most of them have gotten their preclearance papers to get into canada

Now, obviously this is HUGE for the city's economy. Hotels, guest houses, restaurants, bars and various shops all stand to benefit BIG TIME.

How much, do you estimate, will this 'weekend' pump into Montreal's economy and what [if anything] is the city doing to assist you and to ease your financial burdon[s]?

the city is doing absolutely nothing to help us financially. we had to raise,beg and borrow to get this thing going.all i know is all the headliners have their money.
as for how much it will bring for the economy..........i cannot say right now. we will found out closer to the date.
part of the montreal international reggae festival proceeds will however go to the montreal children's hospital

Perhaps, armed with some financial facts and figures...AFTER the event...you might approach city hall for assistance for next year...if you have plans to make this an annual event.

Well. 3 weeks to go...I wish you well. May the weekend [June 4 - 6] be positive in every way.

I know if the hospital does well...that everyone will have won, and THAT'S the way it should be.

One particular 'promoter' was kidnapped for a few days when a performer didn't reach the venue [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]


You'll find that once this event is completed, and next years planning starts... the city, plus cultural associations will want to get on the bandwagon...

((Lisa)) the updated media releases each week is also helpful, as I have been forwarding them myself here, plus the networking involved.

My hotel room has been booked for at least 2 months now...

Plus the web site info has been a great help - with people from Ottawa and Toronto being able to purchase their tickets/weekend passes here in advance.

yes this is most def gonna be a yearly event. the city, the fed govt and prov govt did tell us to check them next next re financial help.

no i was not aware of thid kidnapping incident.
