Are you busy serving Jesus during your free time, or do you waste hours trying to pursue and snag an available guy? Ruth was a widow but she did not use her time sponsoring pity parties for all unhappy single women to gather and compare misery of datelessness. When she and Naomi moved back to Bethlehem, Ruth did not waste time feeling sorry for herself. She went right to work..

Countless single women stay home rather than travel alone into the unknown. They not only miss out on being encouraged by others, but also are not exposed to new relationships…..

..If a single woman allows the fearful prospect of meeting new people and new challenges to keep her at home, she may find herself bored and lonely while wasting time missing many satisfying and fulfilling experiences. Don't stay home as a fearful single woman. Take a step of faith and volunteer, get involved and see what you have been missing.

I have read this book a couple of years ago. Someone borrowed it and it was not returned.--Guess that is a good sign that it is very good reading [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] !.

Like the idea that a man cannot make you happy.

My point : Your happiness comes from God, primarily. Everything else is scondary.. So many times some people enter a marriage with a whole lot of emotional baggage, thinking that the other partner like a magic wand can erase all these problems and they will enter a new state of profound wedded bliss. That is not reality, that is a delusion; as a result some of these marriages that were doomed to failure, live out the expectation and fail.

britisha, I just finished telling this to a friend.

Once we seek Him first and His righteousness (I don't mean to quote scriptures) everything will be given to us and when we allow God to lead our lives, it is done well.

Didn't read all the comments, but I have the book and read it last summer. It's a pretty good book though there were some points I didn't agree with, there were more sound advice in that book; a great read I got the book in a very special way, but I won't say here, pm me and I'll let you know how, but I digress [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I'll pull it out this weekend, and join in on the discussion.

I remembered these points very well, the travelling bit, I already practice, but it hit home a lot with not having a pity party thing, something we women can get caught up in all too often. great book.

I didn't want to mash up your thread so, I have been reading this thread but not contributing. Since I am the only dissenting voice on this issue, I started a new one giving my POV. The intent was not to compete with your thread but to make it possible for the positive flow in which it is moving to continue undisrupted.

I will say this about the book, if one is living in Jamaica or a predominantly Black community in the US or elsewhere, I do think that this approach can work. I guess that no book can be all things to all people and cover all situations. It does not take into account the factors of racism and racial discrimination for those of us who are living in predomoninantly White environments. I think in those settings, more proactive action is needed if one is to have a hope of getting married.

I will continue to read and digest all comments.

I'm a witness..and we use those beautiful words to describe our mate "He completes me" with dreamy eyes

NO! God alone completes us..when we allow Him to. It is during our single time that we are to let Him have His way with us. Swoon us, love us, court us..only then will we be fulfilled..
