Two motivating factors: educating Canadian adolescents about humanitarian aid and building relationships with people from a different culture.
The project started in 1995, initiated by a teacher at our school. I took over the organization in 1999 and have been 5 times since then.

We will keep on going back to Jamaica until they kick us out. However, we are going with former participants to Benin, Africa this summer to do similar work for a month.

I know I did. I got the address of lady named Marie, who's children helped out alot during the construction process. I have yet to send the pictures, I would like to choose the best ones to send back.

We were in Trenchtown, Ferry (Spanish Town Road), Waltham Park and Black River.

how long does it usually take to build a house?

how is it decided who gets the house that u build?

It takes about 3 days to build a house because we spend alot of time with the people of the community.
The community leaders decide who gets the house. This year, one house went to an elderly woman who got evicted from her previous home and bought a lot on the dumpsite. The other house went to another elderly woman whose house was falling apart and who lived with her daughter and grand-children.
