INTRODUCTION
Reggae music is an indigenous art form with a celebrated history of uplifting, entertaining, inspiring, and most important unity. In a time consumed with violence, materialistic glorification and distorted notions of success, we are looking to bring together and unite people from all walks of life, for a 3-day reggae celebration against violence at the most multicultural city on the planet, Montreal.

The time to end violence in ourselves and our lives, whether we are victims, perpetrators or both, is the present. We all know that music and art is crucial to a teenager’s identity. Unfortunately “rage, resentment and revenge” seems to have become some of the cultural anthems of today’s entertainment industry, in certain areas. Violent lyrics and themes in popular music and videos are currently mass marketed to a huge audience of young listeners. Many have dreams of imitating the commercial success of their idols, yet lack the opportunity to develop their talent in an environment free of negative influences. Our responsibility is to demonstrate with this “project” that success can be realized without “violence oriented content of any art performance”.

The Montreal International Reggae Festival is a three-day action-packed event that showcases over 100 artists/performers from Canada and around the world. It features mostly live Reggae, as well as certain R&B, Hip-Hop, Alternative, Rock, Jazz, Latin, and World beat performances. This event is not limited to music; it also includes the visual arts, poetry, and dance. Reggae festivals around the world are known for their incredible community support and rapid growth. With an exciting national and international artist line-up, tremendous community involvement and support, and a great Montreal location at the Old Port, the festival promises to be the most inspired event of Montreal for years to come.

allow me to post my question as i have to go do something for a moment and might miss her arrival

... THE SUCCESS of most reggae concerts held in Toronto, Canada these days can easily be judged in advance by three important factors. They are the venue, the line-up of artistes, and the reputation of the promoter. the above quote is taken from a review done in a Jamaican newspaper regarding a recent show ...do u agree with the assessment ....
