That land and all others in the Caribbean are no longer in possession of their native peoples. Centuries may have transpired and different groups may have arrived and left the islands but that truth still holds.

Nation-building is not an innocent endeavor - it never has been and it never will be. Vilefy it, despise it, and ridicule it but there would be no Jamaica, no Puerto Rico, no Trinidad, no USA, etc., etc. without it. Maybe things would be better now if the Western Hemisphere was left untouched since the late 15th century.

Ladies and gentlemen we have been lied to and bamboozled, deceived and led astray by the lying stories of suffering our people felt on the non-existent triangle trade.

I say we all find a scientist, the smartest in the world to help us figure out a way to re-create the Arawak population and as African descendants, apologise to them for chopping off their heads raping their women enslaving them and exposing them to diseases.

Us Jamaicans should be ashamed of our selves, I mean really why don't we all go back to Africa and leave the Arawak's land alone. Who authorized us to put shakles on our children and rape ourselves and have a grand old party on a luxurious yacht and sail on over to the Arawaks..

We should have done like the Europeans and given jewels to the Indians when they landed on Plymouth rock. We should have "borrowed" the land like they did and probably should have created these luxurious areas called reservations and ask them nicely to go and live there

My earliest memory of past history lessons seems to suggest that .. the Indian population was decimated by diseases and hard labour ..and they (plantation owners) needed strong bodies..sooo

They died before the mass of Africans were brought to the island. Many of them were killed by the Spanish in a sport (just for fun). The rest died through enslavement or by disease brough from Europe.

I heard stories from some Maroons that few Arawaks were present on the Island while the war was going on between the Brits and the Spanish. Unfortunately, there were so few of them present, that by the time the war ended, they were all dead while the remainding Africans (Maroons) excaped to the hills.
