Napi, I read the article in Honey mag also. did they go out of business? I thought they just got tired of sending me free issues.

Some of the women were raped by the men who were fighting on the same side as they were! That's some crap. Reminds me of this story a minister told about having someone in your corner.

He said can you imagine Mike Tyson in a championship fight, then when the bell rings he goes to his corner and they start beating up on him too.

That's what these women endured - fighting their enemy then coming to their corner and having to fight their own.

the comments here seems to me to be very distasteful and packed with ignorance. you really dont know anything about what goes on in Liberia or the story of Col. Black Diamond? right? why dont you stay there yourselves for some time and see what its like to be a young woman there? (i was there myself, working for an international aid organization).
Black Diamond (22 yrs old), is the leader of a group of angry young women who has taken up weapons to fight back - the WAC (Women's Artillery Commandos). like most of them, she was brutally gang-raped. she was repeatedly raped by a group of 9 drugged soldiers from the troops of pres. Taylor. this was in 1999, when she was 18 years old. she was forced to watch when soldiers brutally slaughtered her parents and siblings with machetes - hacked to pieces. she was 13 then.
There is nothing funny about Liberia or those angry,proud young women. they refused to be victims,have taken up arms, they've got nothing to lose, they're fearless because they've lost everything. sorry, but it pisses me off severely to read the comments from westerners sitting in safety in front of their computers poking fun at this tragic situation and the young women trying to deal with it.
there is NOTHING to shop in Liberia. everything you need, you get from smugglers or get from western aid organization staff. bbqueen (the previous poster) would **** her pants from fear after 5 minutes on liberian soil. then she could go and do her shopping, while praying hard that some of the girls from Black Diamonds army would be there to protect her *** in case the government soldiers should come around.
