I just reached my friend, Marie, who lives out on the West End. (Some of you have met her)
She says that the entire West End is badly flooded, and is compledtely blocked by fallen trees, flooding, and related disasters, BUT, she says that there's no known "true disasters", and that they are, for the most part, okay. She can't see much, right now, in the dark, but she says that all you could see earlier were blowing trees and that she still had havey rains coming down. They are aparently still without electric power in areas of Negril, but she says that her electric power is back.
She reports this: That the sea (the waves) are smacking up and OVER the Lighthouse!
She promises to go out after daylight tomorrow morning, to see what else there is to see - and to report back to us. She also asks if there is anybody whom she can TRY to contact for any of oonu. Her cellie is out, but her land line is mostly working (periods of outage).
So... please PM me if anybody wants Marie to try to phone anybody on the island, and she will try to do it. (If they're anywhere near Negril, she may be able to try to go to them tomorrow or Monday, depending on the situation.)
