Witchy there are ham radio relays set up, I delivered some equipment to Kevin (Petcom) who works at the dive shop at Mariners on the beach just last year.

nobody has running water, no electricity = massive spoiled food issues, lots of dead livestock...

Grange Hill has lots of damaged houses, some ruined...

water is a big issue and no digicell...many roads are not passable.

cable and worthless not quite so worthless, but only car charging...

rudemonk....i've called to & received calls from a digicell phone in negril.....the circuits are way overloaded so you have to persevere.

I'm trying to create a central place for hotel/resturaunt reports so if anyone has any corrections or additional information, I would really appreciate it! I've gotten a lot of info from right here at Jamaicans.com. You guys are always on top of everything.

I just joined today, so I hope I'm doing this right. This seems to be the only site that has any real info. Now that I know it, I'll never let it go! Has anybody heard how Couples Negril and Swept Away and Pirate's Cave fared? I'm worried about friends who work/live there. Can't get through on cell phones. Batteries must be dead by now. Any update is appreciated.

Good thread - Any one out there that knows the progress and when the road will be cleared from Old hope to Little Bay so relief supplies can get in - seems the only other way to get to them would be by boat - Bless them all

Good morning! I just got thru to Little Bay again and they said that the rode to Old Hope is soon open. I am still going in on Saturday and there should be no worries in getting there. They said that the things needed are working gloves, rain gear, batteries , candles, food, nails, flashlights. There is a man named Sterling out of chicago that sends barrels down to jamaica for 125 US per barrel. His phone # is
773-288-7100. He ships out on wednesday and the barrel takes two weeks to arrive in MoBay. You have to have someone there to get it but what a great inexpensive way to get things to them. I have a phone call to make this am. to the Jamaican Counsult to see about getting these things in duty free and any other help that they may be able to offer. The power is not expected on for some time still and the digicel system is overloaded with calls from caring people. I got thru at 5:30 am so i urge you all to try to get thru at those kinds of hours. I am setting up a woman in Lake Geneva , Wi. with the phone # for sterling and any donations will be greatly appriciated. All of these things will go directly to the people of Little Bay and Homer's cove and some to the Brighton people that lost everything. I personally know of Evette and her 5 kids home that is gone and everything that was in it as well. I have clothes for the kids but only just enough to get on the plane with all the other things. Has anyone heard how "Our Past Time" has faired the storm? It's a small place just down the beach from Sandals. I have many friends there & hope & pray for their safety. Any news from the beach end would be much appreciated.

I just got off the phone with the girls in the office of Lost Beach Resort (the HQ in Michigan). She said that everyone is okay. Every building lost it's roof, but there is no structural damage. I have left a message for Steve (owner) on his cell and I hope he'll call me back, but I am not holding my breath because I would assume he is on his way there to asses the damage and begin repairs.

I'm hoping to get in touch with Kevin (South Dakota white rasta) who lives down the beach on the other side of Richie's place and make sure he is okay. However, he only has a cell and I guess it will be a while before I can get through.

Just called Seasplash. Everyone is okay lots of damage to the restaurant/bar area and a few of the rooms they are now closed for repair.

I still have not be able to get into contact with friends in the area tho [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
