Carl Lewis has warned Usain Bolt lightning may not strike twice as he bids to retain his Olympic 100metres title in London, even though he is the fastest man on earth. Jamaican Bolt registered a world record time of 9.69 seconds when he claimed the blue riband prize in Beijing two years ago.He then lowered the record to 9.58sec at last year's world championships in Berlin and is the big favourite to dominate the 100m at the 2012 Olympics, when he will also defend his 200m crown. But former world record holder Lewis, 100m champion at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles and the 1988 Games in Seoul, is not so sure Bolt will be triumphant in London.'You know what? The Olympics is two years away and it is amazing what can happen in that time,' said the 49-year-old from California.'It's a big challenge. I am the only one who has ever been able to double up and win 100m gold at successive Olympics and I can tell you it's a hard thing to do. It's very difficult to come back and win for a second time because there's a lot of people out there who want to beat you.'Lewis believes Bolt's world record will be lowered and one day even dip under the nine-second barrier.'We will be long gone by then but it is always going to be reduced because people always want to beat the best,' he said.Lewis equalled the record set by Jesse Owens in Berlin in 1936 when he won four gold medals in LA.And the all-rounder, who followed his further success in South Korea with golden performances in Barcelona and Atlanta, reckons British athletes will benefit from the Games being staged in their home country.'I look at it as a huge positive,' he added. 'A lot of people say it brings extra pressure but you are able to stay at home, eat your own food, and mix with your friends.'If you can focus on training the same as usual then it is a big bonus.' That is one of the reasons Lewis feels Londoner Christine Ohuruogu, the reigning Olympic and world 400m queen, will shine in 2012.He added: 'Christine's main rival Sanya Richards is a good friend of mine. They have this tremendous rivalry which will be fun to watch. Christine goes out and runs her own race and performed like clockwork at both the last Olympics and world championships. That's exactly what you have to do.'You can't worry about other people or what lane you are in. You just have to do your own things and it makes Christine tough to beat.'
