Motorists travelling through the Fern Gully in St. Ann are being advised that the road has been closed, following an accident on Saturday morning. The accident occurred shortly after 10 o'clock, while a bus transporting passengers was travelling from Kingston to Mystic Mountain, in St. Ann.The driver reportedly lost control of the bus which hit an embankment and overturned. All passengers were taken to hospital, where six were admitted in serious condition. The impact of the accident caused the engine of the bus to explode, spilling oil along the road.Attempts by a unit from the Ocho Rios Fire Station to wash away the oil proved futile. This has resulted in the National Works Agency and the Parish Council deciding to close the road until further notice."The road is in a very slippery and dangerous condition at this time, as a result of that we do not see how vehicular traffic could use this road for the rest of the evening. I have contacted the parish manager of the National Works Agency and he advised me that the best thing to do is to close the road at this time," Mr. Bell said.Motorists will be further advised by 8 o'clock, Sunday morning, whether the road will be re-opened.The alternative route is Colgate through Breadnut Hill down to Harrison Town.
