After 90 minutes of football at the Constant Spring Football Field, Manning and Walker Cup Champions Jamaica College prevailed over Rusea's High School 1-0 in the 1st Leg of the Olivier Shield. Captain Ahsani Walker gave the Blues the lead in the 10th minute in a half which they dominated. Rusea's had a chance cleared off the line just before the end of the first half. The Russians came into their own in the second half in which they produced several chances to draw level with JC, but the JC custodian and the post came to the aid of the Blues. Rusea's were however awarded a penalty around the 70th minute and their leading goal scorer Bryan Brown skied the ball over the cross bar. Minutes later Rusea's were down to 10 men after Miguel Jones was shown a second yellow card for handling the ball after the referee indicated that play should resume. The return leg will be played at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay on Saturday, and should prove to be just as mouth watering as today's first leg.
