A Vice Principal of a St. Thomas-based high school had her bail extended when she appeared before the Yallahs Resident Magistrate's Court Wednesday. The 56-year-old woman is facing a charge of perverting the course of justice. The charge arose from an incident at the school in which a female student was sexually assaulted by a male teacher in March of this year.It is alleged that the matter was reported to the Vice Principal.The male teacher admitted his guilt and apologised.The Vice Principal then advised the student not to take the matter any further. However, the girl and her mother filed a report with the police.After an intense investigation, the Vice Principal was arrested and charged. The male teacher, who was also taken into custody and charged, is out on bail.The Vice Principal is booked to return to court on April 6.
