More than 300 members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) have undergone polygraph tests since the start of the year. Among those subjected to the tests were persons being considered for sensitive positions in the Force.Head of the Anti Corruption Branch, Assistant Commissioner of Police Justin Felice, gave details."Officers seeking promotion or who seek to go to sensitive posts such as Transnational Crime or Organised Crime are subject to an element of polygraph examination to see whether they are suitable to be employed in those areas, so far this year 361 have [undergone] polygraph [tests] in the JCF. Now this is a fantastic tool in the box to assist us in dealing with officers of concern," he said.ACP Felice says the unit also undertakes two types of polygraph examinations involving a pre-employment vetting test. There is also a forensic test which is undertaken if a particular concern is raised about the applicant. He adds that the Anti-Corruption strategy is also bolstered by the recently launched Ethics Committee."Now this is a new initiative for the organization and this Ethics Commission examines officers' ethics and standards prior to promotion in the organization. Currently the organization is going through an examination process looking at people to promote to the post of Deputy Commissioner Assistant Commissioner, Senior Superintendent and Superintendent," ACP Felice said. He says more than 60 persons from this group have undergone ethical interviews. Fri. Dec.10,2010 7:55am 0 CommentPrinter-friendlyEmail to friendShare storyBookmark story
