Regular four-day captain and recently appointed Twenty20 captain, Tamar Lambert, was overlooked as skipper of one of the teams during yesterday's second Twenty20 trial at Chedwin Park, sparking speculation that he could be replaced ahead of next month's lucrative Caribbean Twenty20 (CT20) Tournament.Lambert, who earlier this year guided Jamaica to their third straight hold on the regional four-day crown, was replaced as captain of one of the teams by David Bernard Jr, who recently returned from West Indies A captaincy duties and missed the first trial match on Wednesday. The other team on display was captained by Wavell Hinds, as was the case in the first trial match."I can't answer that question as to whether or not he is likely to be replaced for the tournament at the moment. You will have to wait and see just like everybody else," said head coach, Gus Logie, when asked for the reasons behind the change in leadership of one of the teams."What I can say, however, is that Bernard Jr has just come back from a West Indies trip where he captained the West Indies A team, and we felt today's game was another good opportunity for us to look at what he can do," he added.Under the microscopeThe 29-year-old Lambert, who last season was controversially named captain of Jamaica's Twenty20 team ahead of then West Indies captain Chris Gayle, has been under the microscope as it relates to the Twenty20 team, which finished a disappointing fourth during last season's inaugural staging of the event. His role as player in the team has also been questioned by his critics, who argue that his robust build and usually slow and calculated batting is a minus rather than a plus for the team in the game's shortest version.Should Lambert be replaced, it is likely that either Bernard Jr or Hinds would be asked to lead the team. Gayle will not be available, as he is down to participate in the Australian Big Bash Twenty20 Championship, which will take place at the same time as the CT20.The CT20, which offers the most money of all regional tournaments, will be held jointly by Barbados and Antigua and Barbuda between January 10 and 23.Meanwhile, rain brought a pre-mature end to the game yesterday, thus allowing Hinds XI to claim victory under the Duckworth/Lewis scoring system.Top scorersBatting first, Hinds XI made 142-6 off their allotted overs, with the in-form duo of Shawn Findlay and Horace Miller top-scoring with 54 and 25, respectively.Batting all-rounder Nkrumah Bonner took two for four in two overs with his leg spin.In their reply, Bernard Jr's XI reached 111-4 off 17.5 overs, with Bernard Jr ending on 52 not out and Bonner 26 not out. Lambert made 12.Hard-hitting batsman Danza Hyatt, who recently represented the West Indies A team, had to be rushed to the hospital during the chase after he was hit on his middle finger by a delivery from young fast bowler Jason Dawes. It is understood that his finger was dislocated. However, up to press time this could not be confirmed. The third and final match will be played today, beginning at 9 a.m., after which the national selectors will meet to name a 14-man squad for the tournament.
