Jamaican record holder Alia Atkinson finished sixth in Thursday's 50 metre breaststroke final at the 10th FINA World Swimming Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Thursday. Atkinson clocked 30.22 seconds, which was three hundredth of a second off her personal best, 30.19 seconds which she swam in the semi-final.The event was won by American Olympian Rebecca Soni in 29.83 seconds at the world.Atkinson also failed to progress from the heats of the 100 metre individual medley, with her time of one minute 04.64 seconds.Victoria Ho, Jamaica's other competitor at the championships, clocked nine minutes, 14.45 seconds in Thursday morning's 800 metre timed final, which placed her 20th overall.
