Work to restore the severely eroded roadway at Friday in the Upper Rio Grande Valley in Portland has restarted. The project, which began in July 2009, was put on hold, but is now being completed under the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP).Work commenced last month and is expected to last for six months.The road was rendered impassable in February last year, after numerous land slippages resulted in complete erosion of the roadway, causing major dislocation for 3 thousand residents of Ginger House, Comfort Castle, and Mill Bank.Comfort Castle and Mill Bank are inaccessible to vehicular traffic.The rehabilitation project will include the construction of a rubble retaining wall, laying of culverts and pipe drainage.
