Prime Minister Bruce Golding has called National Security Minister Senator Dwight Nelson and Chief of Defence Force (JDF) of the Jamaica Defence Force Major General Antony Anderson to a special meeting to discuss a threatening diplomatic row with Honduras.RJR News reported earlier Monday morning that the Hondurans are complaining that members of the JDF Coast Guard used excessive force in their bid to intercept a vessel carrying Honduran fishermen.Two fishermen, suspected of fishing illegally in Jamaican waters, were shot in the incident.A statement from the National Security Ministry said the injured fishermen were taken to hospital for medical treatment.The head of the navy in Honduras has called for the Honduras Foreign Ministry to file the highest level of protest with the Jamaican government.Rear Admiral Juan Pablo Rodriguez claims that the captain of the Honduran fishing boat was killed and two crewmen wounded after being fired on by the JDF Coast Guard south west of the Pedro Cays.He says the Honduran-flagged fishing boat was attacked by the JDF Coast Guards because they were fishing illegally in Jamaica's waters.
