The Jamaica Constabulary Force has confirmed that a Constable was arrested after he was allegedly caught with a large quantity of ganja on the weekend. A statement issued by the Force Monday night said the cop was held on Saturday by members of the Anti Corruption Branch on suspicion of breaching the Dangerous Drugs Act.It said investigators acting on information set up a sting operation in the Kingston Eastern Division where the policeman was spotted driving his private motor vehicle.He was stopped and searched and 65 pellets and a large canister of vegetable matter resembling marijuana were reportedly found concealed in a secret compartment in the trunk of the vehicle.According to RJR News sources, when the Constable was accosted, he told investigators the ganja was not his, and he had borrowed the vehicle from a relative.It is understood that the relative in question may have left the country on the weekend. The police statement said the cop was taken into custody and a file is being prepared for submission to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
