The operators of the Ian Fleming International Airport say there will be increased security at the facility in Boscobel, St Mary. Vice President of Commercial and Marketing Operations at the Airports Authority of Jamaica Mark Williams confirmed to IRIE FM News that security at the facility will be increased. He also said the sign has been taken down and a new one will be put in place. It is believed that the act of vandalism is in protest against government's decision to name the facility after the British author, Ian Fleming. Fleming is the creator of the internationally acclaimed James Bond series, which he wrote while living in Golden Eye, St. Mary, near the airport. Mayor Richard Creary who spoke at the opening of the airport said some St Mary stakeholders were upset at the manner in which the name was selected, as they were not involved in the process. Prime Minister Bruce Golding said although there are several noteworthy St. Mary stalwarts upon whom the honour could have been bestowed, the name Ian Fleming has great international recognition. He has also said the name would appeal to the target market of high end, or rich and famous, travellers. Photo Credit: (Gleaner)http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...71482506228312
