Fire fighters have taken industrial action.Public relations officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Emelio Ebanks, told RJR Newson Tuesday evening that the fire fighters started the industrial action after they were told that up to 4:30 p.m., that the Finance Ministry has not disbursed monies to meet their monthly salary payments. "One has to remember that in December persons were paid early, so this is an extra long pay period, this is well beyond 30 days. It is not a situation we wish to be in but most persons, to be honest, who are embarking on some kind of industrial action right now, is because they can't do any better," Mr. Ebanks said.However Junior Finance Minister Arthur Williams disputes that the Ministry has not handed over monies to make the payments.
